"So you're saying she had a blood curse?" Severus heard everything about the curse in the Greengrass family, and grew worried about Clarisse.
"This will kill her sooner. It's what happens when the curse strikes the bodies of the Greengrass women..." Albert said, looking at the man before him, while Severus stared at him with cold eyes.
"And you didn't have this, correct?" Severus guessed.
"Exactly, Severus. The Greengrass family only passes this curse to the girls. We usually marry them off much earlier due to the condition, like my mother, since all of them, in unison, tend to suffer from the disease. At least it's a way to maintain the bloodline, since they don't last more than 30 years of age." He said in a bitter tone.
"I see... And Clarisse knows about this?" He asked, still uncertain.
"Yes, we explained the situation when she started at Hogwarts... I had to explain that she should look for someone who fit better within her standards to become her future husband, among the pure-bloods. But I never forced her. She should have already started her marriage at 15 or 16, as every woman in my Greengrass family usually does. But I couldn't force her, you know... She's my only daughter and I didn't want her to feel pressured, since she had never really found anyone. Even more so when the war against Voldemort was getting worse and worse, and that Dark Lord was gaining more and more power, with the people in Slytherin House, as you yourself witnessed, becoming increasingly hostile, while we didn't want to be on either side." Albert said, with a serious look.
"I see..." Severus seemed thoughtful before looking at his father-in-law with a glint in his eye. "I think I can break this curse."
"You... what? Are you sure?" Albert couldn't believe what he had just heard. I mean, Severus was beyond his comprehension, but that had been so sudden, so confident. The curse that had plagued the women of the Greengrass family for generations could be cured just like that?
Severus was thinking about the elixir. He still had a little of it left for research, but he wanted to develop it further to produce it. The disease didn't seem to be a big problem for him, so he would wait some time to do it properly. In the end, he would cure her — that's why he wasn't in a hurry.
"Yes. I can solve this. I can cure Clarisse, just as I can end the curse. And it won't pass on to any of our children." He said calmly.
This was nothing Albert expected from that whole conversation. After all, since he was going to marry Clarisse, that was a warning to him about Clarisse, since it involved nothing less than their children.
"Very well... If that's all you wanted, I'll be on my way." Albert said, having to stand up.
"All right. If you say you can save her, I believe you. Thank you truly, Severus." Albert said with some emotion.
"There is nothing I wouldn't do for Clarisse, Mr. Greengrass." He said.
They had also arranged the new contract, where Severus would get even better prices for potion ingredients, further increasing the profit of his shops. Now he was the main buyer for the Greengrass family and also part of the family. He also showed Mr. Greengrass the plan to expand his franchise beyond the small shops he had outside the country. He wanted to build a strong network in many countries, just as he had in Great Britain.
"There's one more thing." Severus was about to leave. "I want to take your daughter out to dinner, I'd like your permission. Perhaps tonight, if you allow me." Severus suggested before leaving.
"Are you sure? Things are getting really bad in the country." Albert murmured.
"It doesn't have to be here, I can take her somewhere outside the country." He said calmly.
Albert seemed a little hesitant, but only sighed. "All right, I'll trust you."
Severus finally left Lord Greengrass's office. The man just didn't want his daughter at risk, but if Severus was going to take care of her, then he accepted.
Severus exchanged a few more words with Clarisse, inviting her out when he saw her. The girl smiled, since there was little time left before the start of classes and it would finally be an opportunity to go out with him after everything.
"I would love to." She said with a charming smile.
"A romantic date? Well, where are you two going, may I know?" Lucy approached with a smile on her face after hearing her daughter being invited out.
"How about France?" Severus said clearly.
"Great, it's been some time since I went there with my parents..." Clarisse declared, excited.
"Then just behave yourselves." Her mother said upon hearing this with a wink.
In any case, Severus left the place after saying goodbye to the Greengrass family. But he wasn't going straight to his mansion. He simply shifted shadows while using an invisibility spell, changing the scenery around him.
He appeared in front of the Ministry of Magic, on top of one of the buildings in front of the main building, watching the huge crowd below. There was no longer the destruction he had caused with Voldemort in that place.
There was a stage where several reporters were asking questions to a specific group: Dumbledore, the Minister of Magic, the great Chieftain of the ICW, and also all those members of the Sentinels of the Veil along with the other agents.
Severus was there to analyze the group that had come especially to face him.
He stared at each of the members while the great Chieftain gave a speech to the public.
The group was quite versatile. There was a woman centuries old, like that ancient vampire, or even a girl who seemed to have just left adolescence, almost as young as he was — like the one with blue hair, who couldn't have been more than 20 years old.
There was also a large man, who seemed to be a direct guard of the blue-haired girl, and an elderly man who never left her side either, leaning on a strange staff. The two children also caught his attention — both used pieces of wood as if they were wands, but they weren't as young as they seemed. That was Severus's impression of them; they should be even older than he was, despite their childish behavior, as he noticed.
The gnome was also beside the vampire. He was the seer, as Severus had heard. That guy was a problem; Severus could see that just by laying eyes on him. He wasn't a problem for being threatening, but rather like a fly that could become very bothersome.
The group seemed divided into three parts, but just by looking at them, it was possible to see that they were quite synchronized and knew how to work as a team.
"Miss Vicência Santos, do you believe Severus Prince could be a danger to magical society? Many support him, after all he was the one who defeated the Dark Lord and he isn't acting in an evil way like the first. There are reports that he is simply going out with his fiancées and not having any evil plans." A reporter from the Daily Prophet raised the question as a magic quill wrote in a floating notebook.
"We want to bring him to justice and put him on trial for his actions. Whether or not he has the community's support, no one should be out there doing whatever they want, he needs this trial, because entire families were wiped out thanks to the war and his decisions. There was a disruption that infringes more on the Statute of Secrecy than any other in history because of this fight. That is why we will bring him to this trial."
"And do you really think you can defeat him? Most of the Ministry has seen his powers. They say he is above any other wizard in this world." Said another reporter.
"That's why I called the Sentinels of the Veil, because it's the most powerful squad in the world. And we will defeat him, of that I am certain." Vicência Santos said in a confident tone.
Dumbledore remained silent along with the minister as he listened to the speech.
"What do you think of Severus Prince's powers? We've all seen that he can summon dark creatures. He is involved with dark magic." Another person exclaimed from the crowd.
"That's what everything indicates. They say he is also a necromancer, a repugnant magic that can turn the dead into his slaves and warriors. We have never seen anything like him in this world, nothing like this has ever been recorded. That is why Severus Prince is a great mystery I intend to uncover. And that is why I will be taking full control of the Ministry of Magic of England alongside the minister." She said, catching everyone by surprise.
The Minister was embarrassed beside her but did not dare say anything after his failures. In the end, he could do nothing.
As they discussed, the Sentinels squad began to feel uneasy. At that moment, one of the necklaces of the blue-haired girl began to shine.
"He's here." That was all she said, while looking at the necklace and trying to keep her face straight so as not to draw attention. Only her lips moved.
The large man at her side immediately looked at her, surprised. The gnome and the vampire also turned, and the old man narrowed his eyes.
"Are you sure, princess?" The old man asked cautiously.
"She... she's right." Said a timid voice beside them. One of the children, the little boy, spoke with a tone of shame: "I've felt him since he arrived here. He's watching us."
The boy pointed above one of the houses. "He's right there, watching us."
The entire squad of the Sentinels of the Veil turned their eyes to the place where Severus was. Invisible, he raised an eyebrow, noticing that two of the group had already perceived his presence. Proving that these didn't seem to be just anyone.
He became visible the next moment and stared at each of them with his eyes glowing blue, like a challenge, before disappearing again. No one else noticed — only the group.
Severus returned to Prince Manor. He spoke with Rosaria, who was a little angry that he had a date, but she couldn't do anything while Severus went out with Clarisse.
He found her beautifully dressed and smiled at her.
"You look beautiful." He said, wearing a shirt, vest over it, dress pants, and shoes.
"You don't look bad yourself. Elegant as always." Said Clarisse with a silly smile, before Severus took her through the Floo powder.
They went to France, which was also strongly magical, finding a restaurant and dining quietly in a discreet manner. Despite this, Severus noticed that there were some cameras pointed at them as soon as they were noticed there.
He simply ignored it, continuing his meal. It made no sense to try to hide his relationship with Clarisse at this point, even more so because it was already known and he had placed shadows on her as well as on her family to protect them since that afternoon.
Thus, he had his date and then took her home. No sleeping together, even though the girl seemed willing to do so. She also seemed undecided, torn between desire and the will to preserve herself. But that didn't stop Severus from enjoying her with kisses.
After that, Severus returned to Prince Manor and found Rosaria waiting for him in his bed. That, he could not deny.
