Cheng Cheng paid no attention to the children who had been secretly watching them, leading them through several turns until they reached a slope.
On the slope was a layer of stone, with a shabby bungalow behind it. The wall appeared to have several different shades, repaired with lime and cement after cracks.
The roof tiles were black, and even had a few clumps of grass growing on them, with some light purple wildflowers in bloom.
"We've arrived," Cheng Cheng said, taking the lead towards the house.
Chiang Xiao and Meng Xinian exchanged a glance.
"Can you do it?" Meng Xinian asked in a soft voice.
Chiang Xiao took a deep breath and nodded.
Why not? What's not possible?
Was she really scared to meet even one person?
Having gone through so much, even having faced death, what was there to fear?
She was just a bit nervous.
She was merely guessing Ah Liu's reaction and attitude.
