"How about her?" Qiao Xiguan asked Gu Minglu.
Gu Minglu held his phone, silent, without a word.
"She doesn't like you, does she?" Qiao Xiguan continued to ask, her voice very calm.
Gu Minglu could only respond with silence.
"Minglu, I remember when you were very young, your mom told you not to get close to Gu Mingyue. It's not because of her personality, as I don't know what kind of person she has become over the years. This has nothing to do with Gu Mingyue's character, but because of some objective grievances between our family and theirs. These grievances started because of me, but I don't want my son to bear this burden," Qiao Xiguan said, her tone not harsh but very serious. "Do you understand what I mean?"
Gu Minglu just held the phone to his ear; the words his mom told him when he was little seemed still fresh in his memory. It happened when he was just 5 or 6 years old, and for some reason, he remembers everything related to Gu Mingyue very clearly.
