MC POV
I looked at Nick Fury — something between a great-uncle and an employer to me — with a judging expression.
"So, what you're telling me is that, without proper capacity or any real means of control, you started experimenting with a mysterious object that emits extremely powerful and unique spatial energies — the same one Hydra used centuries ago?" I asked, taking a sip of the latte he had brought me.
Feeling the weight of my gaze, he replied a few seconds later:
"Yes. You should know that similar activities have existed within S.H.I.E.L.D. for a long time. Scientific advancement and humanity's safety are worth appropriate risks. Only by taking risks can we achieve great gains."
His voice was confident, with not a hint of regret. And, in that regard, I can't say he's wrong — after all, his logic makes sense. The problem lies in the risk he took: the possibility of Earth being invaded by civilizations and individuals comparable to gods.
