Chapter 7 - Maiden Discourse

The night lay still over the city, the world wrapped in darkness. Everyone was asleep, their homes quiet, while outside, insects chirped and danced in the cool mist.

She was just about to drift off to sleep when something on her bedside table caught her eye. It was a small badge, the metal glinting faintly under the dim lamp. She picked it up, turning it in her hand.

"What is this…?" she murmured. Then it struck her. "Oh… this must be his badge—the one from earlier." Her gaze fell on a small phone number etched into the back.

Without thinking too much, she reached for her phone and dialed the number.

"Hello! What is this person's name?" came a cautious voice on the other end.

"It's me—the one you ran into today," she replied.

There was a pause, then a short laugh. "Ah, Champion! How did you get my phone number?"

"Actually… from this badge. I'm sorry for disturbing you so late, but I thought it was only right to let you know I found it," she explained.

"Oh! Wait, I'm not 'sir'—and honestly, I thought you'd never bother to return it," the voice said, amusement lacing his tone.

"No, I have to give it back to you," she said firmly.

"So, when are we meeting?"

"Tomorrow. Same time, same place," she replied.

"Okay, done. I'll be waiting. But… what will you wear?"

"Hello? Hel—" he began, but the line went dead. He stared at the phone for a moment, then chuckled to himself. "A nice girl… is just nice."
