Chapter 48 - Towards the City of Wonders.

Zephyr took his daughter and enjoyed their second helping of stew and bread. The camp became quiet. Those who hadn't already left were afraid to make a sound. They had swords and daggers, not to mention the numbers. None of those would ever save them from my future husband.

I watched closely myself, and we waited patiently for Anna to fall asleep before we asked what happened and whose blood he had to wash off, but true to form, my little girl refused to sleep. So he had to tell us without the gory details.

"I found those responsible. They were... not nice people, so I dealt with them accordingly." He kept it short and sweet.

He already gave back the coins Metill lost, not the boots. But, his sons had spare ones, so he didn't care.

"Master Zephyr, thank you for taking vengeance for my father." Manata bowed deeply with his siblings towards him. As usual, he just waved it off.

"What surprised me was these noisy idiots with no self-awareness or preservation." He stretched his neck, looking at those who stayed.

"There is more where that came from, little brother... those who saw you now will be spreading it all over Malai tomorrow," Alexander was hugging his own wife and giving us a reality check. "Maybe even tonight."

So much for keeping things secret. But, no one in our family could or wanted to stop him. In fact, I took great pride in him not being hesitant and sending that cockroach straight to hell. I remembered him promising never to fail us again... he sure resolved this one quickly.

Anna's breathing became steady, and Mother took her carefully, not waking her, and taking her granddaughter inside the wagon, which was ours for the trip.

"It is what it is. We deal with it depending on the situation." He shrugged and didn't look bothered one bit. "I just didn't want my peaceful time disturbed with you all. I wanted our life before the wedding to be just as my love envisioned it."

I lay across his stomach, looking up his divine features, which became darker right in front of my eyes.

"But I swear to you all... I won't hesitate to rip those apart, turning their sword on any one of you..."

I felt my heart beating wildly in my chest, and my legs were restless. I'm not ashamed. Him being so overprotective of his family made me incredibly horny. Yes, my love... cut all those down who want to harm us... ahh Ehlite... I needed him.

"We'll be ready tomorrow, big brother..." Lucian looked maybe a little too eager.

"He is right, Zephyr... I feel like your words never rang truer. We have more than enough fights to worry about instead of beasts haunting strangers far from us." Alexander looked at his wife, whose expression was a happy one. Her husband's priorities were finally where they should be.

Granny got up, ready to turn in. "Fighting will be inevitable, son... we prepared and continue to do so. Any ideas?"

"Some, Vistellia... we'll talk more in detail about them when back home. It's late; we had a day..." He looked at the others. "Go join her and sleep, all of you. I'll stay and guard."

Both Alexander and Lucian were quick to take over, not to mention Manata begging for the honor, but he was adamant.

"No... I'll sleep in the wagon tomorrow after we break camp. Besides, I can't sleep, so go and carry your father inside the other wagon, then get some rest." He waved them off and settled in.

All left soon, and we were alone in front of the fire. Only the night serenaded us. It was late.

He nudged me after a little bit. "What about you... not tired?"

"I'm not sleeping without you."

He turned my face and gently kissed my lips. It was meant to be short and sweet, but I couldn't help myself and sat on top of him, deepening it. As usual, we quickly lost ourselves in passion.

"I don't think the... others... are asleep yet, love..."

"Do... be... negative." I couldn't stop my hips, and these damn fabrics were in the way.

We could barely talk, and when he heard me, I felt his cock pressed up against me. He teased me without putting it in.

"You have to be quiet..." He licked my neck and set me on fire.

I felt it out with my ass and was ready to go but... bloody noises.

I looked around quickly but couldn't identify or even see the culprit. One thing was certain: not everyone slept.

I turned to him. "I guess maybe it's..."

He looked disappointed as well, not to mention hard as a rock, its heat felt so pleasant... tchtchtch.

I felt incredibly annoyed and frustrated. Against all my natural instincts to let him do as he pleased, I pulled his hand out with a small indecent sound and pushed it away. I turned to him...

"No... if I can't ride it... you can't touch it. In fact, I'm going to sleep in the wagon."

"My love, it wasn't my fault... you can't leave me like this... Lylly?? Ughh for... fuc..."

I did leave him... with great difficulty.

I climbed inside the wagon and spent ten minutes before my heart calmed down and my annoyance dissolved, well, almost. I wanted to sleep outside... but then only Ehlite knows how many dirty and unbelievably vigorous things my future husband would have done with me. Or I to him... but there was always the chance some insects were watching from the dark. I don't know... maybe it was an animal?

I looked up at the ceiling of the wagon. I decided to spend my time alone, empty... and sleeping with a unique frustration. I should've just rode him like I wanted to.

The next morning, I awakened with the sun and before anyone else. I went and walked outside, carefully not to wake anyone.

My love was like how I left him. He looked at me with narrowed eyes and then looked away. I guess, I did leave him all... who cares? In fact, now, I'm angry at him!

Without a word, I went and sat some ways from him and turned my face away. I wanted to do something more substantial but couldn't think of anything. I waited patiently... but nothing. Not a word or even a look. Soon, others woke up, and breakfast was on its way before I could blink.

Soon, Ilianna woke up too and took her/my place in his lap, and he shared his food with her. Nothing but smiles and laughter... he was that angry? Still ignores me?

"Brother, it must've been a long night... thanks for looking after us. Now go and sleep." Done with his food, Alexander was ready to send him to sleep with Lucian nodding furiously. "You look... okay, I guess, but still you must be beat."

He didn't answer; he had his mouth full. Anna was trying to see how many grapes she could fit in there. He just nodded after it was clear she wasn't going to stop.

"We'll wake you, big brother, once we're close," Lucian promised.

He got up with our daughter, whom Mother took with a big smile.

"Dad, why didn't you ask me to stay with you all night, last night?"

"Well, ain't that very nice... staying all night? Next time, princess... you'll be my first choice. Be nice to your grandmother, give me a big one."

She kissed his cheek, and without a glance, he went inside the wagon.

His clever phrasing didn't fool me, or from the looks they gave me? It fooled no one.

"I thought you guys spent the whole night... together..." My mother came over with her own clever phrasing with Anna in her arms.

"Well... we had some interruption and I left him... frustrated."

Demelza and the women who understood me gave me a few knowing smiles. I watched even the mousey girl Petra smiling.

I looked at the wagon he went... You really think my own tactic will work against me? How long can you possibly keep this up?
