The driver had already prepared a car for him. Qi Ling took the car keys; he's used to driving himself and enjoys the feeling of freedom, usually without needing a driver.
He had just gotten into the car when Lin Xiang opened the door on the other side and sat down.
Seeing her, Qi Ling asked in surprise, "How did you get in here?"
"Happen to have a place to go, give me a ride." Lin Xiang looked at Qi Ling pleadingly, "Ling, brother, I know you're the best."
Her affectionate address made Qi Ling's skin crawl.
He had no choice but to drive, "Where to?"
Lin Xiang said, "I'll tell you later."

So Qi Ling drove to the medical research center but didn't get the destination from Lin Xiang.
He didn't intend to accompany her in circles. It was evident she wasn't planning to go anywhere, she just wanted to cling to him.
Qi Ling unbuckled his seatbelt and said to Lin Xiang, "I'm in a hurry, you can catch a cab by the door yourself."
