Chapter 331 - Freya: Mahiro was meant to be mine
Freya gazed at Mahiro with a tenderness that seemed born of years of devotion, her eyes locked on him like a lover's.
"Sorry, not interested," Mahiro said, shaking his head. "I'm happy with Hestia and have no plans to switch Familia."
"You're the first to refuse me," Freya replied, her silver eyes deepening with affection rather than anger or disappointment.
"You nympho! Think Mahiro's some shallow adventurer you can charm?" Hestia snapped, glaring defiantly.
"Mahiro's unique, and you see that, Hestia," Freya said, a faint smile gracing her delicate face.
"But that only makes me want him more. The unattainable is the most precious."
She turned to Mahiro, her sincerity palpable. "Only someone like you deserves my everything."
"How can you even say that?" Hephaestus muttered, casting Freya a sidelong glance.
The allure of the unattainable was a universal truth, especially among gods.
Yet, for Freya, whose beauty goddess nature let her claim anything effortlessly, this didn't typically apply.
Adventurers with radiant souls fell at her beck and call, eagerly abandoning their Familia to join hers with a mere gesture.
"I've always known this," Freya said, her smile sweet.
"But meeting Mahiro made it real."
"Stop dreaming," Hestia huffed, restraining her urge to lash out, mindful of maintaining her divine composure before Mahiro.
"Hestia seems unwelcoming, so I'll take my leave," Freya said, chuckling.
Her words eased Hestia's tension.
"No, this is your hideout. Mahiro and I will go," she countered.
"Those goddesses are still chasing Mahiro outside," Freya noted.
"And I've been away from my Familia too long. It's time I return."
Hestia pouted but didn't argue.
"Mahiro, don't let those shallow goddesses sway you before you accept my offer," Freya said, her smile warm and teasing.
"Though, if you do waver, it's fine. I'll support you no matter what, as long as you're mine in the end."
Her words carried the weight of a vow.
Freya retrieved her cloak, draping it over herself, concealing her radiant beauty once more.
As a beauty goddess, Freya's presence was a double-edged sword.
Her allure sparked chaos, making discreet travel impossible without hiding her appearance.
Past outings had triggered riots, prompting Guild warnings.
As she reached Hestia, Freya leaned close, whispering, "You're truly lucky, Hestia. Mahiro was meant to be mine, but you claimed him first."
"Cherish him until I take him back," she added, patting Hestia's shoulder.
"Keep him untainted."
Freya opened the door and slipped out.
"Aargh!" Hestia erupted, Freya's words sinking in.
She flailed like an enraged kitten.
"What's this 'Mahiro was meant to be hers' nonsense? That nympho's lost her mind!"
"Is she declaring war?" Hestia bared her teeth, clawing at the air toward the door.
"If she's got the guts, let's settle this!"
"Freya can't hear you, Hestia," Demeter quipped.
Hestia's face froze, then twisted in frustration.
"Next time she flaunts herself and tries to steal Mahiro, I'll make her regret it!"
"Don't talk tough after the fact," Hephaestus chided.
"Who's talking tough? I held back to save her face!" Hestia retorted, fuming.
"Keep him untainted? If I told her Mahiro's already mine, she'd choke on her words!"
Mahiro stayed silent, caught off guard.
"Hestia, you were a virgin goddess once. Can't you be more reserved?" Hephaestus sighed.
"Hestia…" Demeter gaped, stunned.
"I-I was just riled up by Freya, heh heh," Hestia stammered, her shy laugh betraying her embarrassment.
"I've never seen Freya so fixated on someone," Hephaestus said, rubbing her forehead.
"What's your plan? She won't stop until she gets him. She never fails."
"She failed today," Hestia said dismissively, then added with fierce determination,
"Mahiro's mine, and I'm not letting him go!"
