Previously on Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist Showdown! Joseph said, "Wow, Clyde's going to the finals." Clyde said, "Was there any doubt?" After watching Clyde's duel, Frank went to the arcade, and Joseph and Nick followed. Once they arrived, Frank stepped into the blue part of the arcade's duel arena, and Doc stepped into the red part. Doc drew Toon Kingdom from his deck and said, "Oh my. I'm afraid you're about to enter a world of chaos or even a world of absolute mayhem. That's right, a world of toons. Because I play Toon Kingdom, and since I have Toon World in effect, I can summon Toon Harpie Lady (1300/1400). Now I'll sacrifice her for the Toon Dark Magician Girl (2000/1700). It's your move." Frank said, "I activate this trap. It's called Cryogenic Chamber. This card has two effects, but since neither of us has any fire monsters in play, I can only activate the first one. Now, all magic and trap cards are frozen and don't work, which means your toon monsters are destroyed. Because without Toon World, they're useless." Then Toon Cyber Dragon and Toon Summoned Skull got destroyed. Since there was Nothing he could do, Doc took a deep breath and put his hand over his deck. Doc said, "Yes, I surrender, Frank; I don't have the cards to win." Then they both left the arena, and Doc gave Frank eight more coins, making his total 16. Frank said, "16 down, eight more to go. Come on, let's go find Nick a worthy opponent."
Later that day, Joseph, Frank, and Nick went to find another duel. While they were searching, they saw a duel going on. One of the duelists had 250 Life Points left, and the other had 1400. The first duelist said, "Show your claws, my Cyber Harpie (1800/1300). Now destroy Gravekeeper's Spy. Then the other duelist lost 600 Life Points, bringing him down to 800. The first duelist said, "I'll now end my turn with a face down." The other duelist drew Snatch Steal from his deck and said, "I play Snatch Steal. This card lets me control your Cyber Harpie. Now, attack." The first duelist said, "Activating Skull Dice. Time for your Cyber Harpie to lose some attack points." Skull Dice then rolled, and the dice landed on a 5. The first duelist said, "Awesome, they get divided by 5." The second duelist said, "She's still strong enough to take you out." Cyber Harpie's power then dropped from 1800 to 360. Then Cyber Harpie attacked the first duelist, and he lost 360 Life Points, bringing him down to 0. The first duelist then gave the second duelist nine coins, giving him a total of 17. Nick then stepped up to the plate and said, "Excuse me, who are you?" The guy said, "Chris Zapper." Nick said, "Well, Chris, that was some impressive dueling. How would you like to go to the finals? I have seven coins, and you need seven coins as well. I win, and you give me 7 of yours. Winner takes all?" Chris said, "Deal."
Chris and Nick drew their first five cards. Chris drew Card Destruction, The Eye of Truth, Gravekeeper's Assailant, Mouselem of the Emperor, and Ancient Rules. Nick drew Princess Ashley, True Love's Kiss, Luke, the Palace Guard, Princess Katelyn, and Queen Megan. Both their Life Points started at 8000, and Chris went first. Chris drew Gravekeeper's Heretic from his deck and said, "Sweet. First, I summon Gravekeeper's Heretic (1800/1500) in Attack Mode. And I activate Card Destruction. Now, both players must discard these hands and start over with a clean slate. Say farewell to the cards in your hand, Nick."
Chris and Nick both threw out their cards and started over. Chris drew Hieroglyph Lithograph, Gravekeeper's Recruiter, Hidden Temple of Necrovalley, and Mystical Space Typhoon. Nick drew Prince Adam, Tyler, the Palace Guard, Helping Mice, Peasant Village, and Princess's Singing Voice. Chris said, "Now that we have new hands, I'll play Hieroglyph Lithograph. This magic card costs me 1000 Life Points, but it allows me to hold seven cards in my hand instead of six." Chris then lost 1,000 Life Points, bringing him down to 7,000. Chris said, "Ok, I'll end my turn." Nick drew Chris, the Dark Soldier, from his deck and thought, "Nothing in my hand is a match for Gravekeeper's Heretic, but I guess I can still play." Nick said, "I activate Peasant Village. This magic card prevents all monster cards from being played except for warriors and spellcasters. Now I'll play a monster face down in defense mode and end my turn."
Chris drew Butterfly Dagger from his deck and said, "First, I activate Mystical Space Typhoon and destroy your entire village. Now I'll summon Gravekeeper's Recruiter (1200/1500) in Attack Mode. And I'll equip him with a Butterfly Dagger. This card raises Gravekeeper's Recruiter's points by 300." Then, Gravekeeper's Recruiter's points raised from 1200 to 1500. Chris said, "Now, attack his defense card." Gravekeeper's Recruiter then destroyed Chris, the Dark Soldier (1200/1300). Chris said, "Now, Gravekeeper's Heretic, attack his Life Points directly." Gravekeeper's Heretic then attacked Nick directly, and he lost 1,800 Life Points, bringing him down to 6,200. Chris said, "Is this all you got? I hope you have something better for the next turn." Nick said, "To win this duel, you better believe I do." Nick drew Talking Crow from his deck and then looked at his hand. Nick thought, "Tyler, the Palace Guard, has the same amount of points as his Recruiter, but that's only because of his Butterfly Dagger."
Nick looked at one of his cards and said, "Wait, maybe those cards can help. Here goes. First, Tyler the Palace Guard (1500/1200) in Attack Mode. And I'll also lay one other card face down." Chris drew Phantom Knights' Fog Blade and said, "Gravekeeper's Heretic, destroy his Palace Guard." Frank covered his eyes and said, "I can't watch this." Nick said, "Reveal the face-down card. Helping Mice. This magic card lets me summon mouse tokens (500/100) in all open spots on my duel disk. Gravekeeper's Heretic then destroyed one of Nick's mouse tokens. Chris said, "Fine, Gravekeeper's Recruiter, destroy the second mouse token." Gravekeeper's Recruiter then destroyed token #2." Nick drew Drifting Boat of Romance and said, "Perfect." Chris got confused and said, "Huh." Nick said, 'First, I'll sacrifice both my remaining tokens and summon Prince Adam (2500/1200).' Now I'll activate my duel armor and become the prince." Nick then activated his duel armor, merged with Prince Adam, and his clothing appeared on Nick, and his sword appeared in his hand. Nick said, "Now I'll attack your Gravekeeper's Heretic with my sword." Nick then destroyed Gravekeeper's Heretic, and Chris lost 700 Life Points, bringing him down to 6300. Nick said, "We're almost even." Joseph said, "He's right. Chris still has the lead, but only by 100 points." Nick said, "I would attack again, but I can't since I attacked you. And besides, our monsters are even in strength." Chris said, "For now, but let's see what I draw."
Chris drew Imperial Tombs of Necrovalley from his deck and said, "I'll switch my Gravekeeper's Recruiter to defense mode and end my turn." Nick drew Princess Heather from his deck and said, "I summon Princess Heather (1400/2000) in Attack Mode. Now I'll activate Princess's Singing Voice. This magic card lets me summon any beast-type monster from my hand or deck, and I choose Playful Bear (1900/1500). This card gets 500 extra points for each princess monster on the field and in the graveyard." Playful Bear's power then rose from 1900 to 3400. Now, my Bear, destroy his Gravekeeper's Recruiter!" Playfubearar then destroyed Gravekeeper's Recruiter, and Chris lost 1900 Life Points, bringing him down to 4400. Chris looked at his Life Point counter and saw it drop. Chris said, "How did you do that? My monster was in defense mode." Nick said, "I'm aware of that. But my Playful Bear's special ability reduces your Life Points even though your monster was in defense mode. And don't think I'm done yet. Princess Heather, attack Chris directly." Princess Heather then attacked Chris directly, and he lost 1,400 Life Points, bringing him down to 3,000. Nick said, "Tyler, the Palace Guard, it's your turn to attack!" Tyler then sliced Chris's Life Points with his sword, and he lost 1500 Life Points, bringing him down to 1500. Chris said, "When you destroyed my Recruiter, you activated my Butterfly Dagger's special ability, returning it to the top of my deck."
Chris drew Butterfly Dagger from his deck and said, "I pass this turn." Nick drew Hall of Lasers from his deck and said, "Tyler, the Palace Guard, finish him." Tyler then attacked Chris directly, and he lost 1,500 Life Points, bringing him down to 0. Chris then gave 7 of his 17 coins to Nick, giving Nick 14 and leaving Chris with 10. After the duel, Chris, Joseph, Frank, and Nick went. Since they've been dueling a lot today, they decided to take a lunch break at the nearest restaurant.
