Several more projectiles rapidly headed straight toward Griar, but he was able to evade them easily by simply walking to the side. For some reason, the attackers were continuously aiming directly at him without taking into account the fact that he was moving.
Considering what he was being attacked with, he presumed that these were regular inhabitants of the realm–Until he sped up and got to them, at least. They were indeed people of this realm, at least originally, but they had been changed.
They were utterly infested by the Black Moss. It had taken root inside their bodies. Bizarre tendrils of the foulness were flapping out of open wounds like beached fish, their skin had taken on a pale hue as well… By all means, they were dead.
