The key to the tower had fallen into their laps last night, but before they could use it, the party had to find a way to get inside the tower's entrance and learn whether or not Justice Dealer and Ditsy were still alive. After that, the next phase of their plan would begin. Either bringing the real murderer to justice or dealing with Mesmerazia's faithful at the tower.
However, to do any of that without raising suspicion, they required information. And while Garcia could inform them about everything she knew of the tower, there were surely changes made inside the place to catch her or any intruder who tried to sneak inside. The level of security had to be learned before making that attempt.
