When Shen Qi was around, she felt really pressured. She didn't want him to worry about her, but she couldn't pretend to be happy in front of him.
Downstairs was Mother's room. She thought, on nights like this, Mother must have trouble sleeping.
She slowly stood up, thought for a bit, and walked towards the next room.
"Why are you up?" Shen Qi asked.
"I'm going downstairs to check on Mother, then I'll come back up," Ye Zixu said.
He looked at her, and the words "I'll go with you" were on his lips but turned into: "Put on a coat before going down, it's a bit chilly at night."
"Alright," she replied, found a cloak to put on, and went out.
The hallway at night was a bit desolate, with the occasional cold wind blowing, indeed it was chilly.
Yet, somewhere in her heart felt warm like spring, because she knew, no matter when, somewhere out there, someone cared about her. When she was desperate or sad, she only needed to return to his side, and he would give her warmth.
