Reaper tried to read her, but he couldn't. He was torn between keeping his distance and giving in to her request, all while battling the curiosity she had sparked in him.
Though it was unlikely she had a solution he hadn't already considered, he was still intrigued by what she might say. So, he moved closer, crouching beside the tub again, one knee on the ground and his hand gripping the edge.
His eyes searched hers, but she had perfected the art of masking her emotions. He still couldn't decipher her thoughts—her mind was a blank slate.
As he sat close once more, Nyx wasted no time wrapping her arm around his neck. When he instinctively tried to step back, she clung to him, causing her to slip. Not wanting her to fall, he quickly steadied her in his grasp.
Nyx smiled victoriously, moving her face closer to his. "Didn't you want to know how you can help me?" she asked. He remained silent, his eyes locked on hers, his grip still firm.
