Her jaw dropped slightly. "Are you being serious right now?"
"I'm hurt, Grace. Deeply," he said, pressing a hand to his heart with exaggerated sadness. "You wound me with your careless words."
"I don't believe this," she muttered, brushing past him. "I'm going back to my chambers. Come or don't, suit yourself."
Jace groaned aloud. "Abandoning me again?" Why didn't he know this woman was so heartless?
She couldn't even try to placate him even after knowing it took him so much effort to act so pitifully.
Although Grace didn't respond, the corner of her mouth twitched as she walked away. She had to fight not to smile.
