Karna opened his eyes once again to see pure white all around him.
"Oh, here we go again," he muttered in a defeated tone as he saw himself sitting on a chair with another chair in front of him. He noticed drinks on the table nearby, took one, and relaxed.
He didn't need to know what the drink was—he was sure it would satisfy his tastes. The same thing had happened the last two times. Just as he was about to take the first sip—
"How is it?"
"!@##@@$!" Karna cursed and spat out what he was drinking as a voice suddenly whispered in his ear.
He turned to find Jason sitting in the chair across from him.
"What the hell is wrong with you? I was expecting you to do your usual over-the-top circus act. Whispering directly into my ear like that was creepy, man," Karna complained, taking the drink again in his hand.
"Well, I was thinking about doing a small crowd show, maybe with some fireworks and cheering. But seeing how you were just sitting there expecting it, I changed my plans. It was interesting, wasn't it?" Jason asked with a smile.
"Don't do that again, man," Karna said in a defeated manner.
"All right, all right, I'll try my best. But now—did you hear about Inazuma completing his world? Or, to be more precise, he completed a total of two worlds," Jason said proudly.
"Yeah, I did. And from what I hear, he managed to do a better job than what the original fate had in store for those worlds. Good for him," Karna said without any hint of frustration.
He had been the first to be selected for reincarnation into a new world. But not being the first to fix the problems of the world he was sent to didn't disappoint him at all. He was genuinely happy that one of his fellow reincarnates had succeeded in his world.
"Good to know you're taking this in a healthy way. But I have to say—I'm the bearer of some less-than-pleasant news."
Karna's eyebrows rose slightly at that.
"What do you mean?" he asked, and Jason answered.
"The thing is, you were sent to that world much earlier than the canon timeline, so you had more time to prepare yourself in many ways. You also managed to push the main villain of your verse into action earlier than expected. So, the chances of the final war happening sooner than you think are very high," Jason said, sipping tea from a teacup that appeared from nowhere.
Karna paused and set his glass down.
"I started investigating based on a hunch. The things Cana found just confirmed it. That's all. Are you saying what I think you're saying is true?" Karna asked.
Jason smiled.
"Why don't you tell me what you found, and how you found it?"
Karna sat in silence for a few seconds.
"My doubts began while investigating those infected by the curse of Ankhseram. Mavis had correctly identified the curse the first time she saw it, but she didn't connect it to Zeref, who was famously known as the Black Wizard. That meant one thing: this wasn't the first person to be infected by the curse. But even when I went through the forbidden knowledge deep within the Fiore Council, I couldn't find anyone infected by it—only records of the curse itself remained.
Then I researched the cause of the curse. It infects those who delve too deeply into the secrets of life and death. This doesn't mean using life-and-death spells—it means understanding the concepts of life and death themselves.
Zeref got the curse because he invented the R-System and delved deep into these concepts. But the dark wizards who recreated the R-System like Jellal, Brain and the Zeref cultists afterward weren't cursed. The same goes for Mavis. She learned the basic connection between life, death, and magic. She created the spell known as Fairy Law, which, once cast, decides the life and death of those the caster sees as enemies. But unlike her, who got cursed, others who used the same spell weren't cursed by Ankhseram," he said, then looked at Jason and continued.
"I was the last instance. I absorbed the concept of death from one of Zeref's monsters. I didn't create a new magic myself—I absorbed one from a being Zeref had already created.
So, the condition for being cursed is simple: understanding the concepts of both life and death. Basically, anyone who can harness the power of these two concepts through their own intelligence gets afflicted.
But this raises a question—why does this happen? Other gods who govern such concepts don't curse those who access their domain. Even the gods of time, space, and war have never cursed anyone. And even if touching the concepts of life and death is forbidden, it should have affected those who later used spells created by the curse bearers.
The way this curse is structured feels like the god doesn't want anyone having any sort of power over his domain. It almost seemed…"
"Human," Jason finished the sentence and continued.
"According to the calculations and the information in the system I gave you, you were supposed to acquire this knowledge much later—after you completed most of your other missions.
But the system didn't account for your intelligence, which grew significantly as you tried to live up to the persona you created using the tools the system gave you in your earlier trials. And trust me when I say this—I'm really proud of what you've accomplished.
So tell me the rest, Karna. Tell me how you deduced the real secret of the curse. Because I'm sure you now realise the true enemy that the canon Fairy Tail members completely missed. The one who cursed the two most brilliant minds of the millennia, the one who orchestrated thousands of death in one timeline. "
"The accursed human god—Ankhseram."
A/N- haha, were back people. The alternative chapters updates are happening again. As I said before, it is going to be even more fast passed than planned before. And how do you like my new twist.
