The distance from the foot of the mountain to the top looked not far, but with the stone steps winding all the way up, Chi Yunxi and Mu Shengfeng still took more than an hour to reach the temple gate at the top.
The sky was already completely dark, with only two lamps outside the temple gate emitting a dim yellow light, offering a bit of warmth.
Pushing the door open and walking in, Chi Yunxi found the little monk guarding the gate, explained the situation, and soon, smiling, waved at Mu Shengfeng, taking his hand and following the little monk all the way into the guest room.
The little monk said, "Two guests, please wait a moment," then turned and left. Watching his back, Mu Shengfeng turned to Chi Yunxi and asked, "Aren't we going to the front to bow to the Bodhisattva?"
Chi Yunxi shook her head, "We'll go a little later."
Without asking more, Mu Shengfeng glanced around the room's furnishings, took the kettle to wash it, and started boiling hot water.
