The end-of-class bell had rung at some point, but Ruan Jiaojiao didn't notice, nor did the English teacher. Even the students in the class didn't rush towards the cafeteria as they usually did; instead, they stood by the door, listening intently.
The scene turned into something eerie, as the students from Class 2 didn't move. Instead, they gathered around the classroom door and windows to listen to Ruan Jiaojiao read the text. This made the students from the neighboring Class 1 wonder what was happening. The students who had rushed to the door also stopped in their tracks, instinctively slowing down, and then they heard Ruan Jiaojiao reciting the text.
On the other side of the staircase was Class 3. A few boys had rushed out, laughing and joking, but when they reached the staircase, they saw the students from the two classes across were standing still, as if frozen. This unknown psychological influence made them instinctively stop as well.
