Valentine Teller's noodles today were nothing like their usual deliciousness. The eggs were overcooked, there was too much salt making it very salty, and the noodles were overboiled, turning them into a limp mess.
Mark Reed didn't expect that he had caused her such a significant emotional burden.
He looked at her deeply, wanting to make her happy again, to see that sweet smile return to her face.
"I want to go to the amusement park. If you're not busy, come with me."
Valentine's heart was in her throat, but she continued to eat the noodles absentmindedly.
If the meeting was truly that important, he wouldn't agree. If he did agree, it meant the meeting wasn't crucial.
His answer made her extremely nervous.
"Not today, maybe another day!"
Though he felt unwilling, Mark Reed still rejected Valentine Teller's request.
The amusement park could be visited anytime, but the board meeting couldn't be held every day. Today was very important for him; he had to be there.
