The movement of his hands stopped.
Kang Chen stared at the person in the mirror. He almost didn't recognize himself—gaunt and desolate, alarmingly thin. That person, shockingly, was him.
After a moment, Kang Chen chuckled aloud.
The man who once commanded the battlefield and stirred storms of chaos had now become this shadow of his former self.
With a loud bang, Kang Chen opened the bathroom door and stepped out. His expression was back to normal, his brows and eyes cold and detached, like still waters devoid of life.
Kang Chen picked up the phone and dialed a number. "Have the results I asked for come in yet?"
"Apologies, Mr. Chen, nothing yet. There's been no anomalies at any of Shen Nie's bases across the globe; he hasn't surfaced. His… movements have completely disappeared. Additionally, there's been an eerie silence from N2 recently—no significant activity at all. My guess is Shen Nie hasn't issued any special orders in a while."
