Chapter 6 - °["Heading to The Village"]°

The morning started with high hopes, thinking that since this place had vehicles, traveling wouldn't take so long especially to a village on the countryside, much farther than even to the draconic zone that he trained on with his brothers. He was sorely wrong though as quickly he learned that the village he had to go too was a bit special compared to any other areas in Dandelion.

As Yu sat in the Faviolones Guild House utterly defeated not knowing how he could possibly go to this village, Khali approached him. "Excuse me sir, why are you still here while you still have business to do?"

Yu looked up to her, a frown across his face. "Well...you know how cars and stuff exist here...well over at that village that needs help there's a weird barrier disabling any sort of modern era technology from even coming close to it. I tried everything but... apparently if you even have a single thought of going there, the barrier instantly disables your car or van or even plain-"

Khali listened, realizing what he's trying to say. "Wait...don't tell me you spent all of the money that Tom gave you..." Tears began to flow down his cheeks as he looked down at the table in defeat.

Khali then sighed, shaking her head in total disbelief. "That much should've been able to last you for at least five years...why didn't you read the explicit warning that's on the bottom of the quest sheet."

He then laid his head on the table, covering his face with his arms as he responded. "Wh-who reads the warnings when you have modern's era technology...magic is bullsh*t!!" Yu could feel her judgmental gaze even if he couldn't feel it, and as a minute of awkward silence went by she sighed again, giving her a bag of silver coins. He then took his face out from his arms looking at the pouch she gave him.

"What's this..?"

She responded "it's enough for you to go too Uli Village and back, including getting a place to sleep and food. Please don't waste it all-"

He looked up at her, his eyes sparkling with gratefulness and admiration. "Y-you're so nice...I thought you hated me but you're a life saver!!"

She then slightly blushed. "Of course I don't hate you, you're a friend of Tom and the others so make sure to come back alive."

He then sparkled even brighter, standing from his seat and as he grabbed the pouch filled with silver coins, he clenched his fist. "Thank you and will do." and as he left Khali waved him goodbye as she smiled and sighed, though this time it wasn't due to disappointment. She then went back to work cleaning the tables, wishing him luck subconsciously.

Yu ran through the city, out through the entrance as a thought came to mind. "If I can't use a car I'll just run, I've run up that volcano tons of times, so I'll just run until I get there! "

°[or you can take a wagon :>]°

He continued running, responding to blue. " Well, in Faviolones there's not many wagons or well...any at all. Remember I got lost in the city once and throughout that entire time there wasn't a single wagon, there were mostly cars, trucks, vans, and horses but not a single wagon. "

°[true...maybe you'll meet someone that can take you when you get closer]

"W-wait...why is it that we can't bring modern technologies over in the first place?? "

°[The barrier around the village stops all progressing evolution from coming into the village and if so, will instantly break down or simply disabled]°

"But why? "

°[.....good question, Idunno!]°

"I guess we'll both figure this out together then- I have a feeling it's one of the reasons why the village is going through hard times. "

°[Less likely, due to the type of magic used]°

"What do you mean? "

°[Because the type of magic used, is Time Magic]°

"That sounds pretty cool!! "

°[It is when you're not in the receiving end! Specifically, it might be a variant of time magic]°

"I can see the bad part, especially after wasting so much money-. "

°[exaaaaaactlyyy]°

"Wait...could I use that?"

Yu then stopped, sliding from the speed he was going. He looked ahead of him, realizing how new this sight was for him. He was surrounded by grasslands and the only thing giving him direction were the dirt road he was running on. Then Blue responded to the he asked.

°[You could learn any and all magic, right now casting is what's the problem, your mana is to low and even if you were to learn simple magic like fire, water, wind, earth, dark and light your body would likely tear itself apart from the new physical strain it would be experiencing.]°

"Well that's a bummer...but I have sensor bar, why can I use that but not normal magic?"

°[I made Sensor Bar a skill which makes it multiple times more easier than normal magic. Also even if it were to give your body strain due to the excessive mana flow, you never use it anyways since you just wear clothes ^°^]°

"I guess that makes sense? Well since we're talking about what I can and can't do, since you're a System can you give me speed magic or is that also to straining for my body?"

°[You haven't reached the conditions for me to freely give you magic so I sadly can't right now even if you could handle it ;-;]°

"...what's the.."

°[Stop asking me questions and just run!!! You'll most likely reach them someday so shush!!!]°

"Heshe sorry- I'll just run and be quiet"

As Yu began to run again, he admired the scenery before him. Though the scenery couldn't fully distract him from his abundant questions. Though he knew that the system was trustworthy there was something off about her that he couldn't put his finger on, but for now he stored this thought into the back of his mind giving him more time to figure it out and for the System to show him more about itself.

After 10 hours of continuous running, he finally reached the barrier surrounding the entirety of the village. Though he wasn't officially inside the village once he walked through the barrier, his black clothes instantaneously transformed into brown, medieval clothes. It's material entirely different from what his other clothes were made from.

"....that even if they didn't seem like it that equipment was extremely expensive...and now... they've turned to homeless people clothes...no even homeless people have it better-"

°[interesting, usually time magic doesn't affect what the person is wearing]°

Yu then responded. "Well, this variant version you talked about just costed me 5k converting into my worlds currency so-"

°[it might change back if you walk back outside the barrier!]°

Yu then sparkled, walking back to barrier, attempting to walk through just to bump his head onto it.

°[uhm...]°

"Yeah...I see the problem now...it seems that once your inside you cant leave."

Yu then put his hand onto the glowing barrier, confused onto how this sort of magic could work. He then sighed, look back to the crop fields. "We're not even officially in the village this is just where they farm..."

°[Usually there's a way to destroy time magic barriers that keep you inside, inside the barrier]°

Yu then began to walk to the village, responding to her. "That's usually how it works in anime, manga and manhwa too, we usually just have to destroy something from the inside or kill something to get the barrier down."

°[Or talk no jutsu?]°

"That's the best situation, but something telling me that won't happen in a world like this." And as he approached Uli Village, there were no one outside, the sun had already set so it was expected for everyone to be asleep, but a chilling feeling ran down Yu's spine. It was like there were no one at all, no voices, birds, crickets, only the sound of the wind blowing.

He walked through the village, keeping his eyes and senses sharp as the feeling of something watching him continued.

"Blue...what is that."

°[I think you're hallucinating ^-^]°

"It still freaks me out...why is it so quiet here... "

°[There's only about 2 thousand five hundred people in total in this village so that is very normal]°

"....o-okay...." He then entered an inn, finally seeing someone still awake holding a lantern. The girl then screamed, jump scaring Yu making him also scream and as they had their hands on their own chests, heavy breathing the girl sighed from relief.

"U-uhm...hello... you're new around here, are you an adventure?"

Yu's eyes were like a dead fish as he responded, heavily breathing as his heart continued to race. "Y-yeah...I'm here to deal with the situation about the food...and stuff...c-can I get a room..."

She then nervously responded. "Y-yes sir! Please follow me, there is already a room fully ready for someone who is to help this village!" As she led him to his room, Yu was in total shock from the jump scare and as she bowed and left him, he laid onto his bed.

"Th-this is hell...why me...I wish I was just back with them...training on top the volcano...y-yeah...that'd be bliss."

°[it's okay, it's okay, as soon as you finish this quest, you'll be able to go anywhere in Dandelion and you can find your friends Yu, also the reward will most definitely be great!]°

"H-hopefully you're right Blue..."
