At this moment, Connors hadn't noticed any abnormalities yet, but his skin had completely changed color. He now resembled a Martian, but this was only the beginning.
The next moment, Connors' body began to undergo new changes. Previously, his skin had just turned green, but now his entire body was transforming. Every inch of his muscles and bones underwent severe deformation, turning him from a human into a monster.
A green tail even grew from Connors' lower back, swinging uncontrollably and slapping the ground.
Connors now looked like a humanoid lizard, resembling a dinosaur-man. Fortunately, Robert wasn't here to see this; otherwise, he would have recognized it immediately.
Robert had encountered many lizard-men among the animal warriors he'd seen before. The only differences were in color and size; from a human perspective, they looked almost identical.
This meant that another technology capable of transforming humans into half-beasts had emerged, seemingly more perfect than Baron Strucker's animal warrior experiments. Connors showed no signs of life force waning, unlike the animal warriors who would die as their vitality was exhausted.
However, like the animal warriors, Connors had also lost his sanity. This was perhaps the price of mutation, similar to how Otto lost his mind shortly after becoming Doctor Octopus and attacked Tony Stark.
"Power! Such powerful strength! Is this my body? Have I mutated into a lizard-man?" Connors muttered to himself after a while, looking at his body with eyes glowing red. He then grew increasingly excited.
"No! I was on the wrong path before! Trying to restore the body of someone with a disability to a normal state is utterly wrong. The true path for humanity is to evolve from ordinary humans into lizard-men! This is a higher, more perfect form of life!"
"Yes! That's it. I will help all humanity achieve ultimate evolution! From now on, the Earth will only have lizard-men, and I will be the ancestor of all lizard-men!"
The more Connors spoke, the more excited he became. He had completely accepted his current form, even considering himself a higher, more perfect being than humans, with plans to transform all of humanity into his monstrous form.
"Professor Connors, I failed this exam. Could you give me another chance..." Just as Connors was immersed in his vision of evolving humanity, a student entered the lab, speaking as he looked towards Connors. He then realized something was wrong. Seeing the green lizard-man in front of him, fear filled his face.
"A monster!" the student exclaimed, turning and running without hesitation. His speed was like that of an athlete.
The student no longer cared about identifying if the lizard-man was Connors or about failing his exam. He just wanted to survive.
"Help! There's a monster! There's a monster in Professor Connors' lab!"
After escaping the lab building, the student finally caught his breath and shouted to the other students around. Despite it being vacation time, some students, especially those who had failed their exams, were still on campus.
"What nonsense? How could there be a monster here? This is a school..."
"Yeah, weren't you supposed to talk to Professor Connors? Why are you acting crazy?"
Some familiar students taunted the panicked student while looking towards the lab, which showed no signs of disturbance.
"There really is a monster! Don't go there!" The student, seeing his peers' curiosity towards the lab, urgently warned them, but they ignored his words, mocking him instead.
Meanwhile, in the lab, Connors was also bewildered when the student barged in. He had just completed his mutation and was still immersed in his vision of a lizard-man future for humanity. His reverie was abruptly interrupted by the student's intrusion.
Before Connors could react, the student had already fled, leaving Connors uncertain of what to do next.
Connors intended to transform all humans into lizard-men, becoming their progenitor. But his current supply of serum was far from enough to achieve this goal. This meant he needed to stay hidden for a while longer, at least until he had enough serum to carry out his plan.
However, since Connors had been discovered, it meant he was close to being exposed. Connors couldn't revert from his lizard-man form, so anyone who saw him would know his true nature.
"Damn it! I'll have to kill them all!" Realizing this, Connors' eyes flashed with murderous intent. He sensed several humans approaching his lab.
"Hmph! They dare come seeking death! Then they shall die!" Connors mistook the approaching students for campus security and decided to kill them all.
"Boom!" Connors forcefully smashed open the lab door. The students approaching the lab froze in horror upon seeing Connors' lizard form. Believing their peer's warning, they tried to flee, but fear paralyzed their legs, causing them to collapse.
Seeing a monster and having the monster charge at them were two entirely different levels of fear, especially since they were so close to Connors.
"Die!"
Seeing the students, Connors hesitated for a moment but then decisively attacked. Despite recognizing them as his students, he showed no mercy.
Connors no longer considered himself human but a higher being. If he had enough serum, he might have turned these students into lizard-men. But now, he aimed to kill them before fleeing.
For a superhuman, killing ordinary people was effortless. The helpless students were instantly slaughtered, leaving no intact bodies behind.
After killing, Connors' eyes grew even redder, breaking old moral boundaries and becoming more ruthless and violent.
"Don't go in there!" Outside the lab building, the escaped student continued shouting. Suddenly, he saw Connors covered in blood rushing out of the building and ran away in terror.
"A monster!"
"Help!"
This time, the student's cries were joined by others as Connors, eyes filled with bloodlust, emerged. He was eager for more blood.
"Die! Die!"
Connors viewed the fleeing students like ants, chasing them slowly yet still faster than they could run. One by one, they fell to his claws, their blood staining the campus grounds.
Despite being vacation time, there were still students on campus. Had it been during regular classes, the casualties would have been far worse.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
In this critical moment, campus security arrived, gunfire echoing through the campus and momentarily halting Connors' slaughter.
However, to the security officers' horror, their bullets couldn't harm Connors. His body had become bulletproof.
While Connors could still be injured by heavier firepower, the campus security lacked such weapons, posing no threat to him.
Despite this, Connors turned his attention to the security officers, enraged by their attack.
"Damn it! What kind of monster are you?!" The security officers retreated while firing, knowing their bullets were ineffective but having no other means of defense.
"What kind of monster? If Otto calls himself Doctor Octopus, then I shall be Doctor Lizard!" Connors grinned savagely, blood dripping from his mouth as he killed another officer.
"Doctor Octopus! Yes! Contact Doctor Octopus!" One officer, seeing his comrade killed, realized their best hope and quickly sent out a call for help.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
In Otto's lab, urgent knocking interrupted his experiment. Annoyed, Otto approached the door, mechanical tentacles ready for action.
"You'd better have a good reason for this..."
"Hurry! There's a lizard monster in the campus killing students and security! Please save them!" The security officer, intimidated by the tentacles, urgently explained the situation.
"A lizard monster?" Otto was puzzled, still unaccustomed to such events, and sought more information. "Explain more clearly..."
"It's over there! I don't know the details; just go save them!" The officer insisted, "Or contact other Avengers!"
"Oh! Right! I'll head over!" Realizing his duty, Otto rushed out, his mechanical tentacles propelling him across the campus.
"Hmm? A real lizard monster? Where did it come from? Good thing it's vacation time; otherwise, the casualties would be much higher..." Otto quickened his pace, frowning as he spotted Connors killing another officer.
"Doctor Octopus!" The Lizard Doctor spotted Otto, grinning savagely. "You're just in time. You're merely using mechanical aids; what right do you have to call yourself a superhero?"
"You know me?" Otto, puzzled by the Lizard Doctor's words, asked as Connors charged at him.
