Blake waited until each of them wore a hanging ring.
Then he said, "Now, I'll let you feel the space crack…"
"And I want to feel the magic power too," Luna added, dreamy as ever.
Blake closed his eyes, thoughts diving into the depths of his consciousness.
Buzz.
In an instant, everything changed.
The world around them transformed into a vibrant, surreal landscape, bursting with colors and impossible geometry. Amid the strange, twisting shapes was a dark, jagged crack suspended in space.
From the depths of that rift, a golden power slowly trickled out, bright against the void.
No one could tell how long they stood there, caught in awe.
Then, just as suddenly, the illusion vanished.
The training field returned to normal. Dabao, oblivious to the fantasy that had just played out, was stuffing Galleons into his enchanted "607" belly pouch, glancing curiously at the dazed group.
Blake smiled. "Alright. You should've felt it."
"It was beautiful…" Luna murmured. "Where is that place?"
"I don't know," Blake said honestly. "But when you want to use this power, the first step is to picture the crack in your mind."
He then launched into a detailed explanation on how to cast the spell that opened a dimensional door.
Two hours passed.
Now seated in a circle, the girls were attempting the spell over and over, arms tired from the repetitive motions.
To Blake's surprise, they struggled far more than he'd expected. Compared to the Mist Hidden Curse, this spell should have been easier.
"Could I have explained it wrong?" Blake muttered, scratching his head.
Cassandra and Hermione didn't complain, but they did exchange glances. Drawing glowing circles in the air with no result felt a bit silly—but none of them wanted to disappoint Blake.
Even Luna, unusually focused, had yet to succeed.
Blake frowned. Maybe it was an issue with the rings?
He sighed. "Alright, let's stop here for now. I'll rethink the—"
Crack!
A sudden spark of light flashed in the air before him.
Everyone turned.
It had come from Luna.
Even Luna looked surprised.
Blake's eyes lit up. "Luna! Keep going—don't stop!"
"Picture your destination! Focus! Visualize that place we saw just now!"
Crack!
Another spark danced into view.
"Yes! That's it—concentrate!"
Crack… crack…
Sparks gathered faster now, forming a faint ring in midair. The space inside the circle rippled and twisted unnaturally.
"Come on!"
CRACK!
A shimmering dimensional gate burst into existence.
On the other side, through the glowing portal, they could see Mr. Lovegood at home, halfway through a bite of pumpkin pie. His eyes widened, and his fork dropped onto the plate.
"Luna…?"
"You did it!" Blake said, thrilled. "Now all you have to do is keep it open by willing it to stay. When you want it closed—just will it shut."
Luna nodded and slowly lowered her hand. The glowing circle wobbled… but didn't vanish.
Blake beamed. This was a milestone—the first successful use of supreme magic by anyone in this world besides him.
"Dad," Luna called through the portal, "can you pass me the latest issue of The Quibbler?"
Mr. Lovegood blinked in confusion, but didn't question it. "Oh… of course!"
He dashed to the side table, grabbed a fresh copy of the magazine, and handed it to her through the portal.
Luna took it, her eyes twinkling. "Got it!" she said, holding it up triumphantly for Blake and the others to see.
The fact that the magazine had passed through proved it—the portal worked.
"Congratulations, Luna!" Blake cheered.
The others clapped, even Mr. Lovegood, who gave two hesitant claps from the other side of the portal, still clearly baffled.
"Thanks for the magazine, Dad! Bye!" Luna waved.
The portal vanished instantly.
"Uh… goodbye?" Mr. Lovegood replied, scratching his head. Eventually, he gave up trying to make sense of what he'd seen and went back to his pumpkin pie.
Luna's second attempt came even easier. She opened a gate directly into her bedroom, walked through it, grabbed a bookmark, and returned to the training field like it was nothing.
Cassandra and the others stared in awe. The ability to travel anywhere in the blink of an eye—it was impossible not to envy.
Hermione looked quietly regretful. Blake had once offered to teach her this magic, back when they watched the sea of clouds from the mountain. She'd declined.
Now she wished she hadn't.
Still, Luna's success turned out to be the breakthrough they needed. Peer learning proved far more effective than Blake's method—mostly because Blake had never learned the spell himself. He'd received it fully formed through the space crack and had no experience with the actual learning process.
So, Blake stepped back and let them figure it out together, slouching near Dabao and feeding the minister snacks to pass the time.
To his satisfaction, it worked.
One by one, the others succeeded.
Cassandra was next, opening a glowing portal with a look of fierce determination. Hermione followed after more trial and error, her eyes shining with pride.
Even Nagini, ever calm and steady, forgot to cook dinner out of sheer excitement.
Blake smiled as he watched them explore the spell. This magic, unlike the Mist Hidden Curse, was thrilling—and the sense of wonder was contagious.
He left them to their practice and went off to cook dinner himself. He wasn't needed here anymore.
As he stirred the pot over the fire, a thought struck him: if the magic is borrowed but doesn't need to be paid back...
Then maybe, just maybe, their rapid progress was only the beginning.
If they could learn something like the dimensional door spell in just one day—something considered supreme magic—then why not others?
They were growing stronger, quickly. And soon, they'd be able to protect themselves without relying on him.
More importantly, Blake realized, he wasn't just training students anymore.
He was building a team of powerful allies.
And the thought made him smile.
