Chapter 93 - Chapter 93 - NBI Agent Croix Salazar

???'s

Tonight, here in Quezon City, I am eating dinner with my childhood friend, Manuel Brian. I got off from my work as an NBI agent. But tonight at 6:35 p.m., it was different because…

"I will sacrifice myself sa rumored na killer sa LRT Depot so ang kaso nito ay ma-resolba once and for all," Manuel said to me.

I, NBI agent Croix Salazar, was shocked to hear that. "Sacrifice? You mean, your life ba?"

Manuel then nodded. "Yes, and this might be the last time we will see other. Also…"

As he dug into his green backpack, I couldn't feel but a heaviness in my heart that he will be gone from this world…

I tried to argue that he is still young and still have a bright future ahead of him, but it was interrupted with a folder containing someone's profile.

Manuel laid it on the table. "Here, this person might help sa investigation."

I then took a good look at it, which contained a picture of a boy, probably a high school student by his looks.

 "Sino po siya?" I asked.

"That's Hoshi Carmen Takada-Santos, 16, at galing Nara City, Japan," replied Manuel.

I then looked at Manuel with a surprised look on my face. "Japan? But bakit western name?"

"Sabi niya he is a Filipino-Japanese."

 "Oh…"

"And based sa research ko, meron siya experience sa paglaban sa mga bad na supernatural forces. I am not joking po…"

Manuel then pointed at the printed news articles about various supernatural attacks in Japan, which were fairly recent.

Glancing at them, I was quite surprised and couldn't denied its authenticity.

But still, the feeling of Manuel will be gone tonight still soaked my mind in emotional despair. "So um…saan po siya ngayon?"

"Nasa hotel kung saan si Ate Ylona ay nagtatrabaho," Manuel replied.

Ylona was my younger sister who has a job as a hotel receptionist.

 "Oh, okay…" I replied back…

And after some time, Manuel finished his meal, paid for it, and left off to do his thing that would be his last before death. I was still in the restaurant, still feeling emotionally heavy…

Third person POV

Meanwhile, before this last meal of his, Manuel kept this thing from his parents and friends and had left his phone in his drawer at home with the lockscreen off. From his research, Manuel knew that Hoshi would be trustworthy in this investigation.
