Chapter 421 - Chapter 421: The Elders' Decision

Mutsuki taught Kakashi the Thunderclap and Flash: Godlike Speed, and then taught Rin the Dynamic Punch and Water Body Flicker Jutsu.

Rin had excellent chakra control, giving her a unique advantage in learning Dynamic Punch.

If she could master these two techniques, Rin's combat ability would improve significantly.

Dynamic Punch could be considered an upgraded version of Enhanced Strength, with greater power and more effects. Proficient use of the Water Body Flicker would greatly enhance Rin's mobility.

Mutsuki hadn't yet taught Obito and Shisui the Dai Enkai: Entei, planning to wait until they finished their current Fire Release training.

In fact, Dai Enkai: Entei wasn't as powerful as Mutsuki's own developed technique, Fire Dragon Dance. After all, Fire Dragon Dance was a secret-level Fire Release developed by Mutsuki, based on the integration of numerous mastery-level Fire Release techniques. However, Fire Dragon Dance had very high requirements, so learning Dai Enkai: Entei first could serve as a good transition.

"Yumi-sama, please come with me to the Hokage Building. The Third-sama is looking for you." Just as Mutsuki was about to have dinner, an ANBU member suddenly arrived.

Mutsuki didn't say much. He simply nodded and followed the ANBU to the Hokage Building.

"Calling me at this hour, it probably isn't about the Academy," Mutsuki thought on the way, trying to figure out Hiruzen's intent.

Even for the Hokage, it should be after work hours by now. That meant Hiruzen was working overtime. And matters related to the Academy wouldn't warrant the Hokage staying late to handle them.

"War, huh..." Mutsuki considered a possibility.

With his identity as a Ninja Academy sensei, unless Konoha was pushed to a desperate state, there would be no reason to send someone like him to the battlefield.

But Mutsuki was different. Even though he had kept much hidden, his visible strength alone already surpassed the vast majority of Konoha's ninjas-he fully deserved to be called a powerhouse.

As a powerhouse, Mutsuki couldn't be treated the same as an ordinary Ninja Academy sensei. After all, the role of a powerful ninja in war was vastly different from that of an average chunin.

If Mutsuki hadn't demonstrated such exceptional teaching skills, he probably would've been sent to the battlefield long ago.

Knock.

Mutsuki knocked on the wooden door of the Hokage's office.

"Come in," Hiruzen's voice came from inside the office.

Mutsuki pushed open the door and entered, while the ANBU remained outside, not following him in.

As soon as he stepped into the office, Mutsuki saw Hiruzen resting his hand on his forehead, looking somewhat tired.

"Third-sama," Mutsuki greeted Hiruzen respectfully.

Hiruzen nodded slightly in response, then said in a deep voice:

"Mutsuki, the village is under immense pressure. The three great ninja villages-Hidden Mist, Hidden Rock, and Hidden Cloud-all have their eyes on Konoha. Hidden Mist Village has even invaded deep into the Land of Fire's mainland and is aggressively attacking the eastern coast."

That afternoon, Hiruzen had held a meeting with the other three Konoha Elders. They unanimously agreed that the priority was to deal with the Hidden Mist forces that had entered the Land of Fire and that a heavy counterattack was necessary.

Hearing Hiruzen say this, Mutsuki understood.

"If the village needs it, I can head to the battlefield immediately," Mutsuki said with a determined expression.

With his current strength, even if he couldn't win in battle, Mutsuki could still escape-there was little concern for his safety.

Moreover, Mutsuki wanted to use the battlefield to train his students. The situation in the ninja world was becoming increasingly chaotic, and Uchiha Madara could act at any moment. He had to strengthen his students as much as possible.

A satisfied smile appeared on Hiruzen's face, Mutsuki's Will of Fire was truly strong.

"With your teaching talent, Mutsuki, you should be in the rear, nurturing the next generation. But right now, the village needs your strength. We must drive the enemy out as soon as possible," Hiruzen said seriously.

Due to Hidden Cloud losing a top-tier combatant when their Jinchuriki was replaced, the Elders' meeting decided to reassign Orochimaru from the Land of Hot Water battlefield back to the Land of Fire to deal with the Hidden Mist.

To make up for the strength lost from Orochimaru's departure, the Elders assigned Minato to the Land of Hot Water to guard against a surprise attack from the A-B combo.

After all, Hidden Mist was still one of the Five Great Ninja Villages. Hiruzen believed that Orochimaru alone wasn't enough. After sending out the Ino-Shika-Cho trio and a group of Hyuga jonin, he thought of Mutsuki.

Mutsuki had mastered all five chakra natures, possessed Ice Release, and had even learned the Flying Thunder God Jutsu. He had also defeated the Sand's hero Pakura in battle.

When Hiruzen thought about it carefully, he realized that, aside from his lack of fame, Mutsuki's strength had already surpassed the vast majority of ninjas in the ninja world.

It was Danzo who first proposed sending Mutsuki to the battlefield. Initially, Hiruzen disagreed.

Konoha didn't have many powerful ninja like Mutsuki, but what made Mutsuki truly rare was his one-of-a-kind teaching ability across the entire ninja world.

As the one who discovered Mutsuki's potential, Hiruzen knew better than anyone how exceptional his teaching skills were.

He himself had taught Asuma ninjutsu, but the results didn't even come close to what Mutsuki achieved.

However, after Danzo analyzed the pros and cons, and with pressure from the Land of Fire's Daimyo, Hiruzen gave it careful thought and ultimately decided to send Mutsuki to join the battlefield to drive out the Hidden Mist.

Thanks to the Flying Thunder God Jutsu, Mutsuki had excellent survivability-even in defeat, he could still escape.

After receiving the mission, Mutsuki left the Hokage Building and gathered his students, excluding Guy, to inform them that they would be participating in the war.

Mutsuki didn't notify Guy because Hiruzen had given him a list of support units, and the squad Guy was in was already on it, so Mutsuki didn't bother informing him separately.

Mutsuki informed Kakashi and the others because Kakashi's squad wasn't on the list, and Mutsuki was planning to bring them along.

"The battlefield..." Shisui's eyes flickered-he was the only one among Mutsuki's students who had never been on a battlefield.

Obito looked indifferent. He already had plenty of battlefield experience. The first time was during an internship gone wrong, when he got caught in a large-scale battle. After that, Minato had led them onto the battlefield for many war-related missions.

"Since the Third has assigned me some important tasks, I won't always be able to fight alongside you like I usually do," Mutsuki reminded them.

Though he would definitely send shadow clones to protect his students, Mutsuki didn't want them to know that-otherwise, they wouldn't be able to face real danger head-on.

Obito's expression changed. Without Mutsuki-sensei's protection, the level of danger would rise drastically.

All his previous experience had always come with someone backing him-sometimes Mutsuki, sometimes Minato.

"Mutsuki-sensei, I think we should have a vice captain. If you're not there, the vice captain can lead the team," Kakashi said after some thought.

Although Obito rarely messed up at critical moments, Kakashi didn't want to gamble. If he became vice captain, he could officially command Obito.

"Alright, you four vote and decide among yourselves," Mutsuki nodded.

In the end, Kakashi won the title of vice captain with a three-vote majority. Aside from Obito, who voted for Rin, everyone else voted for Kakashi.
