Speaking of Manhattan Batman, he's quite the figure. But before introducing Manhattan Batman, we must first introduce Doctor Manhattan. This character is a typical example where the design overshadows the execution. However, DC's editors have cleverly explained his seemingly underwhelming performance.
Doctor Manhattan was once a scientist who accidentally got involved in the Quantum Realm, becoming a quantum being himself. Initially, he wasn't that powerful, but later he evolved into nearly an omnipotent god. He had setups of time and space travel, universe creation, erasure of reality, and more. In DC Comics, before "Metal" and when power inflation was still restrained, he was quite a formidable presence.
Mentioning Doctor Manhattan inevitably brings up "Watchmen." The renowned Rorschach is a member of the Watchmen Team. Rorschach and Doctor Manhattan are teammates, but their relationship is rather ordinary, and they even had disagreements during major events.
This brings us to one of Doctor Manhattan's setting points: after becoming a quantum life, he gradually abandoned emotions, becoming an absolutely rational existence. This very trait explains why Doctor Manhattan rarely intervenes in major multiverse events, often taking a "let it be" approach, which is the main reason for his underperformance.
As for Manhattan Batman, he appeared very late, only after the emergence of the Mad Laugh, acting more as a background or a prop. The setting is nothing more than a Batman having a similar experience to Doctor Manhattan, coming into contact with the same experimental materials and becoming a quantum being.
However, shortly after this guy appeared, he was taken down by the Mad Laugh, becoming a stepping stone for Kuang Ao Tian's conquest of the multiverse.
But, due to Shiller's interference, the Mad Laugh became two divided entities and is currently tussling in the Broken Bat universe, unable to find Manhattan Batman's universe from afar. As a result, Manhattan Batman remained unscathed.
Even though beings like Doctor Manhattan aren't allowed into Battleworld, Manhattan Batman, unlike him, didn't lose his emotions and is essentially still Batman from some universe. Hence, Battleworld sent him an invitation. It's just that he arrived too late, having not met most Batmen.
Because of his late appearance, Battleworld was already in open beta, so there was no need to add more administrators. Similar strong beings appearing after this won't be administrators either, like Marvel's Franklin.
Even without relying on Battleworld, he can freely travel through the Multiverse and naturally understands the importance of the Prime Universe. So when he left his original universe, he immediately arrived in the Prime Universe and sought out Primary Universe Batman.
However, he came this time with a mission. He brought Primary Universe Batman a message he observed from the Quantum Realm concerning the deep darkness within the Multiverse—a powerful being is gradually awakening, threatening to drag the entire Multiverse into lifeless silence. The Batmen must unite to confront this formidable enemy and safeguard the Multiverse.
Upon contacting Primary Universe Batman, he discovered that Primary Universe Batman seemed ready. He had in his possession an extremely powerful formula and its reverse version, the Anti-Life Equation and the Life Equation.
Back when he sent the Robins to Shiller's universe, Primary Universe Batman had already noticed the presence of the Anti-Life Equation. It should be noted that at that time, Darkseid had just started searching for the equation, which was very early.
No one can obtain what Primary Universe Batman desires faster than him. Years of diligent research have given him the complete Anti-Life Equation, and based on it, he derived the complete Life Equation.
However, holding these two things felt somewhat useless for him, as Primary Universe Batman's body is merely human, incapable of wielding such powerful forces and unable to use these to transform himself. But with the mysterious multiverse threat looming closer, he thought of a method—creating a god.
Primary Universe Batman's original plan was to create a body himself, infuse it with a soul, and then let it wield the power of the Life Equation. This life force sourced from the cosmic origin could perfectly counteract the so-called power of lifeless silence. This was the most important arrangement made by Primary Universe Batman upon receiving this information.
Coincidentally, at that time, Ultron invaded, and the Super Body was born—this nearly perfect body, created by Iron Man and Doctor Destruction, saved Batman a lot of trouble. Moreover, it was a magical creature capable of better utilizing the power of the Life Equation.
As for the power of the Life Equation, it can be roughly understood as fragments of God's world creation. When God was writing the program for the world, he wrote a program assuming a life with certain wisdom could burst out with vitality in a most perfect growth environment, which are the elements within the Life Equation, such as compassion, tolerance, success, etc., all as hypothetical conditions. This equation designates a being made of these elements as the most vital existence in the universe.
This is akin to the underlying code of cosmic operation. When God declares you the most vital existence, then so be it, and nobody can shake this position. In contrast, the Anti-Life Equation allows Darkseid, if possessed, to become the universe's most adept life-force destroying entity, which is equally unshakable.
Luckily, Darkseid hasn't obtained the Anti-Life Equation. Instead, Primary Universe Batman endowed the Super Body with the Life Equation, granting her the God-ordained strongest vitality, thus transcending the rank of the original magical energy creature and becoming part of the universe's cosmic origin, countering the cosmic origin's "lifeless silence."
As for why this has to be done in other worlds, Primary Universe Batman has his own considerations. The main reason is that the so-called silent entity is no fool. Once he decides to emerge, he won't let anyone stop him. If they were to act in their original universe, the opponent would catch the scent and come over immediately.
Their current strength is still somewhat weak. Even with the existence of Manhattan Batman, it may not be enough to fully protect the Super Body.
Moreover, the birth of the Super Body is bound to cause a commotion. If it were in the original universe, it might alert the enemy. After all, they are just about to emerge, and the opponent has already stirred the Life Force of the Cosmic Origin, which is suspicious no matter how you look at it. By then, trying to use the Super Body for a sneak attack would be very difficult. To avoid alerting the opponent, this has to be done in the neighboring world.
However, the Super Body is, after all, a living being and not an object that can be moved around. To shape her, one must first capture her. But the tricky part of magical creatures is this: when she is wandering in the cosmos, she is indistinguishable from ordinary Magic Energy, and Primary Universe Batman has no good method to find her. The key is that they don't have time to fish a needle out of the sea, so there is only one way left, which is to lure her in.
Primary Universe Batman learned from other Batmen about certain Spider Man movements, so he guessed that Iron Man and the others might want to use personalities of female superheroes from the Multiverse to create the Super Body. Then the Super Body can be seen as a collective of female superheroes from both worlds.
Female superheroes are not some delicate princesses; they have strength and means. Most female superheroes are interventionists, which simply means that when there is trouble, they really step up and are almost never likely to stand by and do nothing.
Based on this logic, the Super Body should be like that too. Then when superheroes from two Great Worlds are at war, it's impossible for her not to get involved. And if she possesses the wisdom of female superheroes, to gain a voice in the war, she would step in when a side is at a disadvantage.
If both sides are in a stalemate, without obvious flaws, she can also create disadvantages. And Magneto being hit by the Omega Ray was the perfect opportunity she carefully selected.
This was a well-timed move with quite masterful execution, creating the greatest setback ever for Batman's side. Unfortunately, Primary Universe Batman had long been waiting for her.
The Super Body was eyeing Batman's power, while Batman was eyeing her as a person, just waiting for her to reveal herself eagerly and then shove the Life Equation to her.
Although the early destruction of Apocalypse was not anticipated by Primary Universe Batman and made their retreat rather embarrassing, the Super Body still fell into the trap. The Life Equation was successfully absorbed by her, propelling her to Multiverse level strength. Meanwhile, a being that grows in the most perfect environment set by God inherently possesses all beautiful virtues, including kindness, compassion, and a sense of responsibility. She would never allow a dark presence to destroy the Multiverse.
Although she might not participate in this Multiverse superhero war, as long as she can prevent the Prime Universe home from burning, Primary Universe Batman's goal is achieved.
However, it must be admitted, the X Professor's outbreak caused by the Super Body's deception indeed exceeded Primary Universe Batman's expectations, causing Main Universe Superman to exit prematurely.
Every Batman is somewhat abnormal. If Superman were present, they might restrain themselves a bit. But without the Super Kryptonian Rescue Dog, their mental state might become more erratic. As for Primary Universe Batman, this manifests as him becoming extremely aggressive.
Then it circles back to an old question—if Batman wants to criticize, how many people can out-criticize him?
For now, it seems that Owlman, who dresses like a scuba diver, can't. Primary Universe Batman took a step towards him, and Night Owl instinctively stepped back. As Primary Universe Batman continued to advance, he had to retreat step by step until he was forced against the table.
Primary Universe Batman said, "According to what you say, I suffered great losses. In the future, I can only live with my Multiverse-level quantum counterpart and many colleagues who understand and support me in a universe that has no Apocalypse Star and Darkseid threat, and is immensely safe under the protection of the Life Goddess, spending the rest of my days quietly and leisurely."
"For Batman, what a cruel torture that would be. But even if I don't want it, I won't give it to you. Because you would mess it all up just like you messed up your relationship with Superman and your universe. Although I'm very rich, any smart person wouldn't give their money to an idiot like you for squandering."
"When a pebble falls into the water, at least there's a sound. This world has many people whose evil and stupidity create annoying noise. But you, evil without splashes and stupid without a trace. The greatest significance of your existence and deeds is to prove to me that despicableness is not always the passport of the despicable. Thanks for that."
