I walked away.
Walking away from her was one of the most difficult things I have ever done and with it was this hole in the center of my heart, the feeling of overwhelming sadness and it threatened to envelop me fully.
I turned around to look at her one last time, every fiber of my being tempted to go to her, to hold her till everything becomes alright again but I know I can't.
Doing that would guarantee something we both aren't ready for. And God! If I latch on right now, I'm never letting go.
I would hold her and kiss her and tell her things…stuff she wants to hear and things I want to say like how I want to get lost in her.
She held my gaze and we stared at each other for what seemed like eternity before I walked away.
Roma was sitting on my bed when I got there. I think in that moment, I was envious of the fact that as the Alpha's grandson he didn't have to be in the same sleeping space as the girl he may or may not be pinning after.
