Chapter 2 - Treadmill

Serial's pov

"Trevon Romeo Lockheart", I almost screamed his name over the phone when he hanged up. I was mad that he hadn't told me all this while that dad was the matchmaker.

I honestly had no idea that he was the genius that had set Tray on the blind date with Sara, where he accidentally met his ex-boyfriend, now fiancé, Eli. Obviously wasn't what was supposed to happen because no one else knew that Tray wasn't into women at the time except for me. Anyway, I made a mental note to strangle him at our next get-together.

I huffed, looking around me. I was in the parking lot of Yuriat Furniture literally holding in my anger. I never wanted to branch into the furniture industry especially with a bastard like Denver Yuriat. The man had 2 daughters, hid them from the world and was apparently fucking them as well. No one bothers about it because he's rich and this is why I absolutely hate rich people. Of course, owning a large percent of the world's oil and natural gas industries virtually made him untouchable. Why the hell was I tricked into this again? I wondered. My phone rang and I looked down at it briefly. I had a good idea why Dad was calling but I was not about to talk to him. I was so fucking mad at him! The past month or two, he had been trying to set me up with one of Denver's daughters. He had me meeting Denver often over fucking dinner and even proposed a deal so that I would work closely with him for the foreseeable future. I absolutely was not about to get to know any of his daughters, they definitely wouldn't be my type if I had one and I was actually disgusted by their father and his shady dealings. The man was insane, unmarried and using his daughters as sex workers. It wasn't a surprise that he wanted to pawn one of them to the Lockhearts. What surprised me the most was why my father was in on it. Whatever dark secrets he had managed to dig up on dad better be good if I am the sacrificial lamb for the cover-up.

Taking a deep breath, I got out of my car. Either I faced the demon or my dad, and I would much prefer any person over Howler Lockheart, a man even the demons feared. He was the devil.

I made my way towards the building; my mind fixated on getting this over with as soon as I could. Just as I made it into the reception, I saw him, with a devilish smile on his face.

Denver Yuriat. My face froze up, cold eyes boring into his, demeanor completely icy. I had no friendliness for monsters.

"Glad you made it Serial". Howler told me he'd be joining us a bit late, but we can begin", he said in his sickening voice.

I nodded briefly, sizing him up and wondering if I could just beat him up for no reason.

In the world of the rich, that seldom happened so perhaps I could get away with it without repercussions. Wonder what dad would think. I smiled at the thought, and he motioned for me to follow him. I took a step forward and matched his pace, intending on walking right beside him. Serial Lockheart never followed anyone.

From the corner of my eye, I saw him smile with a nod. He was a smart man to be able to read and understand my subtle gesture. I'll give him that but then he wouldn't practically own all the market and share of the oil and gas business if he was dumb. We made it into the meeting room; and there was a girl I had never met before in a black suit and skirt. She had short hair tucked behind her ear, bangs hiding her forehead and a pair of rimmed glasses on her nose. My attention was drawn instantly to her form as she bent over the conference table fixing coffee cups and snacks. I watched her, eyes fixated on her work like her life depended on it. I had never had any dedication towards my work and that made me admire her.

Denver offered me a seat, and I chose one closer to the girl instinctively. I continued to subtly observe her as she set a cup of coffee right in front of me. She smelled delicious and that second piercing on her ear was doing things I had never felt before to me. She was fucking gorgeous. I wondered about all the other piercing's she could have and where they'd be.

Her breasts, her tongue or belly seemed like good spots and imagining them made my throat dry. Hell, I have never even thought much about piercings or found them attractive but here I was fantasizing about a girl just because of some ear piercings and a good-looking ass in a tight skirt.

I felt my pants tighten and just then someone walked in. Taking a breath, I saw my father walk in. Either 30mins had already passed with me thinking about this girl or my dad had just made it here early. He sat right a couple feet beside Denver and gave me a look that said, "you'd better be ready boy!"

I scoffed internally, bringing my focus on the two men that sat in front of me, the devil and a demon. My dad went straight to business, detailing all their previous discussions that I hadn't been a part of.

"As we discussed previously, Yuriat Furniture will take over the interior designing of our new franchises. This merger will also mean that Lockheart buys into your oil and gas companies".

Denver nodded with an almost evil glint in his eye, "Yes, but the deal was to buy only 3% a year. You get 15% leverage if our children marry and you also get first buy if shares are up for grabs", he said.

It was a pointless deal. There was no benefit whatsoever for either of them or I wasn't sure why they both wanted to go through with it. Honestly, thinking about it made me loose the tent in my pants. I didn't even notice that the girl had left as soon as my dad walked in. It made me feel relieved though, because I could finally focus on the discussions going on.

Howler nodded, a devilish smirk on his face, "Serial here is in charge of the new franchises, he'll make for a wonderful husband for one of your daughters"

Denver smiled. And I almost snapped.

"Gentlemen, I do apologize but you can count me out on that one. I'm do not intend to marry anyone. Especially a daughter of Yuriats!"
