Both froze like rabbits caught in moonlight.
Nina, who had spent the last ten minutes shoving others into the fray, took a slow, shuddery breath.
"You know what? Screw it." She announced, straightening her spine and tossing her hair. "I am not a scaredy-cat. There's nothing in the world I can't face. I mean, how bad can it be?"
She looked at Camila, her bravado suddenly more genuine.
"And...If you're with me, I'm pretty sure we can take him head on."
Camila, who'd watched everyone else be turned into happy, ruined puddles, finally let herself laugh.
"You know what?...Sure!"
"We've been together since childhood, we're together even now, and if we've survived finals, heartbreak, and 14 years of being each other's benchmate from primary all the way to highschool, what's this?"
She grinned, squeezing Nina's hand.
"Let's do it. I'll take the bottom, you take the top?"
"As if I'd argue with that." Nina snorted. "You always get the bottom bunk anyway!"
