By the time we arrive at Lucas' estate, the moon hangs high in the sky and clouds shroud the stars. The guards at the gate recognize us, letting us pass.
The driver leads the wagon past the main house and around to the stables. Several stable hands hurry over to assist with the horses. While the attendants unhitch the creatures and groom them, I get May and her bedding, dolls, and cat to the front door of the manor.
I'm left to carry the toys, as both of her arms are full cuddling the cat as she walks. The cat is very tolerant of her. Then again, I suppose the animal doesn't know much about what is or isn't normal interaction, given how young it still is.
Inside, a maid takes charge of taking the four of us in and to our respective bedrooms. It's quite impressive how quick they are to sort us out. Perhaps there's some kind of forewarning they were given so that they knew we'd arrive soon?
It wouldn't be surprising.
Lucas and I are escorted into his room.
Or rather, his bedroom.
