Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Star City I

"Are you just gonna leave that thing on your head like that?" Ace asked.

Lloyd kept walking and just ignored Ace's question, then he turned towards Chris "How much further are we from the settlement."

"Probably a few hours after sunset. It would have been earlier if didn't fight those wolves." Chris answered.

The sun was barely out in the sky, and the darkness of the night was fast approaching.

"Why don't we set camp for the night and continue tomorrow." Zeke suggested.

"I think that's the best course of action right now." Ace added.

Chris looked at Lloyd who just shrugged his shoulders

"Why, don't we just head there straight, we could rent a hotel at Star City." Chris said.

"Hotels, they have hotels, already." Lloyd asked enthusiastically.

Chris surprised by Lloyd's suddenly eagerness smile wryly "Yes they do, although it's not on the same level on the one's you're used to it surely is better that those shitty Instant Huts."

"Building better, structures would just be a waste of coins." Ace chipped in.

The Sun had finally tapped out for the day giving the Moon the night to itself and they were still deciding on what to do.

"C'mon, hurry up when we get there then we can get a peaceful sleep." Lloyd said.

Zeke and Ace felt helpless against Lloyd's demand and eventually gave in.

" Just so you know, if we come across any monsters, I won't lift even a finger to help." Zeke said.

The little puppy was fast asleep on top of Lloyd's head, while Lloyd and the others approached the city.

Two hours past, and part of the city walls were in sight. This made Lloyd's enthusiasm grow even more, he picked up his pace.

"Hey, slow down a bit." Chris said while trying to keep up with Lloyd's movement.

After three more minutes, the entire wall guarding the city was right it front of them. The wall were made from thick, twenty foot logs that surrounded the entire city. Gates were also made from thick woods which were five foot shorter than the walls.

"Whoa." Zeke said unconsciously. "It's just been a week and some days since we were brought here. How long did it take them to do this."

Speechlessness was an understatement at the moment because of how surprised they were, the city should be the same size as a small town if not bigger.

When they got to the gates, two men wearing heavy armor and holding large shields stopped them before they could enter.

"State your reason for coming here." One of them said.

"We've come here to seek refuge." Chris said.

"Well, you've come to the right place but before you can enter the city, you need to take off your helmets for identification." The other added.

They did as they were told without any complaints.

'These guys are smart.' Lloyd thought.

"Secondly, I know you may not like this but we'll need to confiscate your weapons during your stay in Star City to ensure the safety of the people and you also." The second man explained. "If you do want your wrapons with you, you'll have to get permission from the Her Lady, and if she accepts your request your weapons will be immediately brought to you."

"How, do we do that?" Zeke asked while removing his sword from his waist.

"Just go see her at the Mansion tomorrow and pay the fine and do some other things, then if she accepts, word will be sent to us and your weapons will be brought back to you immediately."

Their weapons were place inside a wooden chest marked with the number five and was taken away, some other measures were taken and they were now able to enter the city.

"Please enjoy your stay in Star City." The first man said. "And, I'll suggest you place your armor in your inventory to avoid unwanted attentions."

"Thank you for your concern sir, we'll do just that." Lloyd said with a slight bow.

They unequipped the armor the wore and only their uniforms were left on them. As soon as they crossed the gates and enter the city something strange occured.

The message popped up right after they entered the city. Zeke could see Ace smiling at him in a weird way, and he knew why.

"Not a single word from you, Ace." Zeke said.

Although it was night, the city was a somewhat lively. People still roamed around and others did other stuff. The city had torches at every corner making it somewhat bright, the ground was just filled with sand and stones.

They were also houses here and there, most of the house didn't look like what is available at the shop either.

"The hotel straight up." Chris said snapping them out from their trance.

Seeing new people was good for their mental health in a lot of crucial ways.

The hotel was a white, five storey high building, which was amongst the tallest buildings in the city. Inside the hotel was a young lady probably in her mid twenties who attended to them.

"How can I help you, today Sirs." She said in a soft voice.

"We'd like to make a reservation for four rooms for tonight." Chris said.

"Okay sir, that will cost you two hundred coins sir." She said.

Those word confused Lloyd, because the coins they had was still in their system so how were they going to pay.

"How do we pay, the coins are still in the system." Lloyd said.

The receptionist had a confused look on her face which was directed to Lloyd.

"Here you go." Chris said and handed her a small pouch containing two hundred gold coins.

After counting and confirming the coins, she then took them upstairs and showed them the rooms they were going to spend the night in.

"Hope you have a pleasant night." She said and walked back downstairs.

They all picked their rooms and went inside.

Lloyd looked around the room for a bit. It was just a single room with a bed, a table a chair, two windows and a bathroom. He gently placed the pup on the bed, which from already awake the moment he entered his room.

"Hey there little guy, I'll be right back just need to go take a shower. Don't know if can tell but I stink." Lloyd said.

Before Lloyd entered the bathroom, he remembered he didn't have any cloths to swap this uniforms with.

"Wait here, I'll be right back." Lloyd said and rushed out of the room.

He hurried walked back to the receptionist, who attended the them before.

"Um, sorry but do you by any means have other cloths." Lloyd said. "I really have to change this, they stink."

"Yes but those are going to cost of extra ten coins." She said.

"Yeah, I don't really know how to do that." Lloyd smiled nervously at her.

"Oh, well that's not a problem. All you need to do is think of the amount of coins you want and it's going to be placed in a pouch and can appear anywhere you want within a two yards radius." She said.

'It's that easy.' Lloyd thought.

A small pouch containing forty coin appeared the table in front of her " I paid for my friends also, they'll also need to change."

After confirming the amount she told Lloyd "Follow me sir."

They exited the hotel, and went to the small building opposite the hotel. She knocked twice on the door, a man opened the door and greeted them gently.

Inside the place, was were they stored the clothes that were made.

"Please, I would like five different sets of clothes right now." The receptionist said to the man.

"Five, I only paid for four." Lloyd said slightly confused.

"Worry not sir, you're not taking all five at once. I only did that so you could chose something you prefer." She said.

The man came back with a lot of cloths and arranged them on the table. Lloyd just picked a literal black leather jacket, a white T-shirt with sleeves and black pants 'How were they able to make these things in such a short time.' he wondered.

After that they left, when Lloyd asked if she wasn't going to bring some for his friends she told him that she'll bring them here so they could chose for themselves.

Lloyd went back to his room, noticed that the pup had gone back to sleep. He went straight for the bathroom and showered like never before. After that he bought some bread he ate and slept peacefully.
