"Today's suffering is all for the freedom of tomorrow. You fixate only on the illusion of life and death before your eyes, yet you do not realize that all beings' joy has already transcended life and death. The so-called no-self, no-person, no-living beings, no-lifespan... all appearances are illusions!"
"Tianyin, have you still not comprehended it?"
The Buddha Tianyin remained silent for a moment, then slowly shook his head:
"All actions are impermanent, all laws are without self, Nirvana is tranquil..."
"This is Small Mahayana Buddhism. I feel that I have understood it thoroughly, thus neither life nor death frightens me, nor do joy and sadness disturb me. Yet, I see more clearly. Tianshang, you are too fixated on the distinction between Mahayana and Small Mahayana, which leads you into a 'self'. The sea of suffering is boundless, all beings can ferry themselves. Do you truly need to enlighten them yourself?"
