Chapter 127 - Luftwaffe and VDV in action

Second day, New Port.

Fifty thousand paratroopers descended from the sky. Although there was an airfield near the New Port, to save time, priority was given to aircraft transporting heavy artillery and weapons.

To reinforce the VDV, Ogarkov has called on a lot of the army's 2s6 heavy artillery and Shilka SPAA. This is all they have now, and they will need to use these to stand for at least a week until the armoured forces have arrived.

For VDV who have just landed, they only have one task. Built on the fortifications, either just around the New Port, or they will go to the Karak Army front and build together with them.

The building of fortifications around New Port will be faster; the Karak Army has already built one at the beginning. Just need a little adjustment. The challenging part is 50 km south.

However, the line was reinforced by many civilians. As the area was close to New Port, it was also highly affected by the Soviet 'Priest', and one of the advantages of it was that they would have strong mobilisation.

On the first day of the Chaos invasion, the 'Priest' immediately organised villagers and citizens and formed them into a group militia with the strong will to protect their homeland. They just lack training and weapons now.

Following the arrival of massive AKs, they only lack training now, which will soon not be a problem.

As the Soviet VDV arrived at New Port, the Battle of Karakun had also begun.

Within a week, the chaos army has already reached the gates of Karakum. Karaks resist heavily, repelling wave after wave of attacks from the chaos vanguard.

The chaos vanguard was Khorne cavalry. They stopped attacking after that and decided to go around. Speed is what is most important for them now. The consequences of this are that Karakum has been surrounded and has become an isolated city.

Aric, covered in blood, lifted a Chaos creature off the wall, his eyes filled with despair. Today was the third day of the siege, and the enemy's offensive was becoming increasingly fierce. The city defence array was activated and then broken, and then repaired and activated and then broken again.

The time it takes for chaos to break out is becoming shorter and shorter.

"Can we win ?"

He doubts himself, followed by a smile. From the beginning, he should have known it was impossible, even the Soviets are having such big trouble with them.

He knows that on the Red Army battlefield, the chaos has used super-heavy artillery for an offensive. By the time it arrives, it is his death, and also the whole Karakum.

The chaos and another wave of attack are ongoing. Can Karakum hold for this round? He hopes, but it isn't easy. At this moment, he heard something roaring from the sky.

At first, he thought it was the arrival of a chaos dragon unit, but he didn't see any of them. But a few fighters, following which a firewall was created between those chaos creatures.

"The Red Army? They are here." Aric's first reaction was grateful for the arrival of the Red Army, but soon he realised something different about these fighters; their icon are different.

"No, they are the new nation arrived... ahh shit, here we go again."

At the same time, in the cockpit of these fighters, the pilots are reporting the situation.

"Wolf, Wolf, this is Adler-1, we have arrived at the Karak capital and are currently conducting close air support. No sign of Soviet Army here."

"Roger that. Finish your mission and return. The 2nd squadron has already spotted the Soviet Army."

---

On the 2nd squadron, two Me-400 3rd Generation fighters are flying towards the New Port direction. By now, both pilot were looking at all those densely red dots showing on their radar, reported to the HQ. Those are Soviet transport planes.

"Did they have any sign of spotting you?"

"Negative wolf."

Stimultaneously, the commander of the New Port was also paying attention to these two flying objects that had appeared on the screen.

The situation has been reported to the pilot, and hope that they can verify it.

Soon, a new order was given to the German 2nd Squadron pilot.

"Turn on your fire control radar and lock on their fighters. There should be some, I believe."

"Yes, we will do it."

They immediately lock on the smaller target; those are the MiG-29s that have been deployed here before the invasion and are conducting an escort mission.

Ground radars at a Soviet base can usually detect enemy planes at around 300 km, while MIG-29 radars can only detect 80 km. In the doctrine, MIG-29 is more like a missile carrier, just to carry the missiles to the air, and the missiles will be guided by ground radars.

The only problem is that even the most advanced missiles the Soviet Union had could not hit more than 150 km.

RWR warning system in the MIG-29 cockpit has been activated.

"Down! Down! Lower your altitude."

Pilots immediately lowered their altitude and released the flare, avoiding the chance of getting hit by missiles.

They look at the radar screen nervously, but nothing has shown up to them. The enemies can see them, but they can't.

The RWR continue the alert for another few tens of seconds even though they have lowered their altitude.

In the Me-400 cockpit.

"That is enough for today. Did you get locked by the Soviets as well ?"

"Negative, wolf. They might spot us, but nothing they can do to us."

"Copy. Contact the Soviets, we will have a nice talk."

In the rear, SS commander-in-chief Drachenberg notes down what has happened just now. Even though this is not what he is supposed to do, such an exciting moment like contacting the Soviet is also what he would like to experience.

"They're still the same; the air force is just a piece of shit by looking at today's performance. Their radar or even missiles are far behind ours."

However, what the Germans don't know is that the New Port Commander has stopped the use of the S-300 Air Defence System, where it can lock and target the two fighters.
