However, unlike Idas, Lyncaeus did not rush to approach the Bolkenion the moment he entered the field.
He bent down, picked up a stone from the ground, and hurled it toward them from afar.
Possessing eyesight hailed as the best in the world, Lyncaeus had extraordinary talent in archery and throwing techniques.
Although he was still inferior to Atalanta in the realm of divine marksmanship, he could still be said to hit his target every time, piercing targets a hundred paces away without fail.
The same applied to throwing. The stone flew with precision and struck Bolkenion squarely on the head.
With their nearly metallic shells, the stone caused no actual damage to Bolkenion, but such harassment was enough to enrage them.
The two beasts immediately locked onto Lyncaeus's direction and charged straight at him.
"Take Down!"
They attempted to repeat their old trick, trying to send Lyncaeus flying just as they had Idas.
Unfortunately for them, Lyncaeus was not his brother. He had never closed the distance to Bolkenion, leaving himself ample room to evade.
Coupled with his exceptional eyesight, even though Bolkenion's straight-line acceleration under the skill was terrifyingly fast, Lyncaeus still managed to dodge the attack with a light roll.
From that moment on, the battle entered Lyncaeus's rhythm.
Using clods of earth and stones, he relentlessly harassed Bolkenion, driving them into a furious rage.
Again and again, they tried to crush him with skills like "Take Down," "Stomp," and "Giga Impact," hoping to deal him a devastating blow.
Yet Lyncaeus was like the finest matador.
With superb eyesight and agile movements, he narrowly avoided Bolkenion's assaults time and time again, retreating to a safe distance after each evasion, continuing to lure them into attacking.
Only now did everyone understand why he wasn't wearing armor.
Wasn't it precisely so he could stay light and move more freely to dodge Bolkenion?
Seen this way, Lyncaeus was not truly reckless after all.
Having learned a lesson paid for with his brother's life, Lyncaeus knew all too well that these two "divine bulls" were not only immensely strong, but also terrifyingly fast when charging.
Against such opponents, his comparatively frail body would be utterly unable to withstand even a single hit. Therefore, he had to use his strengths to attack their weaknesses.
By relying on agility and constant provocation to wear down the enemy's stamina, then delivering a fatal blow at the end, this was his plan.
Seeing this, the Argonaut heroes finally let out a small sigh of relief.
Yet they still could not fully put their worries aside.
For at this moment, Lyncaeus was dancing on the edge of a blade.
Although his eyesight and agility allowed him to narrowly escape Bolkenion's attacks again and again, with his constitution, even one solid hit would mean certain defeat.
Still, as Lyncaeus continued to evade successfully, and as the two Bolkenion began to show signs of fatigue, panting heavily, the watching Argonaut heroes couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope that Lyncaeus might actually win.
Only Alaric shook his head faintly.
As the creator of Bolkenion, Alaric knew very well that they possessed far more than brute physical strength.
The immense fire and water elemental powers within them had yet to be unleashed. To speak of Lyncaeus's victory now was far too early.
Sure enough, after realizing they had been unable to land a single hit for so long, Bolkenion finally began to change their tactics.
When Lyncaeus once again tried to provoke them by throwing stones, the giant beasts no longer intended to rely on physical attacks.
Instead, they each took a deep breath. Steam burst forth from their nostrils and the holes in the circular rings on their backs.
"What, getting smarter now?" Lyncaeus was puzzled by Bolkenion's reaction, yet he still bent down to pick up another stone, preparing to try again.
But he never got the chance.
The two "divine bulls" opened their mouths toward him.
"Smog!"
Thick black smoke poured rapidly from their mouths, swiftly engulfing the entire field.
Visibility in the farmland plummeted, and the choking smoke made everyone around cover their mouths and noses. Lyncaeus, caught within it, broke into violent coughing.
Yet what worried him most was not the suffocating smoke itself, but the fact that it completely obscured his vision, nullifying the advantage of his exceptional eyesight.
At this point, he could only force himself to calm down, waiting for an opening, trying to sense Bolkenion's approach through sound, vibrations, and other cues.
However, the attack he awaited never came.
Crimson flames erupted violently from the mouths of the two Bolkenion. The highly compressed fire reached him in an instant, completely engulfing Lyncaeus.
"Flamethrower!"
Although Aeetes had mentioned long ago that the "divine bulls" could breathe fire, the earlier battle had made Lyncaeus completely overlook this fact.
Now that Bolkenion suddenly unleashed this ability, he was caught completely off guard.
Even though Lyncaeus possessed a physique beyond that of ordinary mortals, it was only relative.
The high-temperature, high-pressure flames released by Bolkenion were far more terrifying than ordinary fire.
In just an instant, Lyncaeus screamed in agony as his body was scorched, his skin rapidly charring black. Outside the smoke, the Argonaut heroes could only listen helplessly to his screams echoing from within.
At first, the cries were loud and piercing, but they quickly grew weaker and weaker, until they finally disappeared altogether.
When the smoke dissipated, all that remained was a charred corpse.
The sight drained the color from everyone's faces.
They had never imagined that Lyncaeus, who had held the upper hand just moments ago, would meet such a horrific death on the spot.
The strategy of exhausting Bolkenion through agility was hereby declared a complete failure.
Now, what method remained to deal with these fire-breathing "divine bulls"?
The Argonaut heroes fell into silence.
After a long while, just as everyone thought they were about to give up, another person finally stepped forward.
He was the son of the sea god Poseidon, king of Euboea, Nauplius.
"Since these divine bulls wield the power of 'fire,' then we must counter them with 'water,'" Nauplius said confidently.
"I am Poseidon's son. I can command a portion of my father's power. The force of water will extinguish their flames."
Nauplius's words prompted the Argonaut heroes to nod in agreement.
In most people's common sense, fire meeting water being extinguished was only natural. Since the "divine bulls" controlled fire, then the son of the sea god should be able to restrain them.
And so, Nauplius strode openly into the field, standing before Bolkenion.
At this moment, the black smoke had already dispersed.
Perhaps due to the successive battles, Bolkenion seemed somewhat fatigued, which only made Nauplius even more certain of his impending victory.
Only Alaric shook his head inwardly.
Using water to defeat Bolkenion, how could he even think of such a thing?
