The day of the Exam
Team Kakashi was sent to the Chunin exams with one more team to represent Konoha.
The team was composed of Genins who graduated two years ahead of them making them, Team 7's seniors. They were from the lower clans within konoha that they weren't introduced into the series.
Anyway, both teams were accompanied by their Jonins and immediately joined the 1st stage of the exam.
The exam was conducted in the classrooms of the village which is made of Earth.
It was typical written test where you can easily pass if you have undergone at least 3 C-ranks missions which prerequisite are multiple D rank missions.
Team Kakashi and their ally team passed no problem. And carried on to the next round.
The 2nd stage of the exam was a survival test in the dessert. Sort of like the 2nd test in Canon, conducted at the forest of death.
But this time, instead of getting the heaven or earth scroll, the team needs to gather at least 3 flags to pass.
Each team was provided with 1 flag each which means, to pass, a team must defeat a minimum of 3 teams and get their flags or simply steal the flags without fighting.
With Team Kakashi
Shintaro was the head of the team, Shoto was the scout and Osamu, although an all-rounder, is their medic.
They were currently hiding in a place which according to Shintaro, the best place for an ambush.
"I sense a team approaching. All of them came from Iwagakure and have Genin level chakra."Shoto immediately reported his insects' findings.
Shintaro nodded in affirmation.
"Osamu, I will trap them with my jutsu first before you trap them in a genjutsu. This is for insurance." Osamu agreed.
Although his Genjutsu is potent, you never know what would happen in battlefield.
"Here they come." Shoto gave the signal.
Shintaro immediately manipulated his shadows stealthily without the Iwa-nins' notice until for some reason they were unable to move.
The shock faces they've shown confirmed Shintaro's hold. Which was Osamu's signal.
"Nightmare Series: Freddy."
As soon as the Genjutsu was casted, Shoto's insects fetch the flag on one of the Iwa-nin.
The enemy started breathing hard as if nervous. Shintaro's shadow has already been retracted and the team already proceeded to the next.
While the Iwa-nin they left behind were already screaming, pulling the hair on their heads, pissing themselves to sheer horror, and sometimes running around crazily as if being chased by something or someone?
Only Osamu will know, after all, he himself had sleepiness nights after watching those movies before sleeping. Ever since, he never watch horror movies alone or at night.

The time limit for the 2nd test is only 3 days. Team Kakashi was able to steal their second flag from a Team Kusa-nins while their team were resting.
Osamu easily put each of them to sleep with a standard sleeping Genjutsu. It seems that their team was not used to the terrain and conditions of Suna.
The teams that participated in this Chunin exams came from various villages except Kirigakure.
3 teams from Kumogakure, 2 from Iwagakure, 6 from Sunagakure itself, 3 from Kusagakure, and a single team from Amegakure. The rest were from smaller villages.
Team Kakashi setup their last ambush on the third and last day. They remain undetected by other teams due to Shoto's scouting insects which they utilized effectively.
"Now." Shoto announced.
As soon as he did, shadows started creeping out of the darkness that soon took a hold of 2 members from Kumogakure Team.
The last one immediately became vigilant and spotted Shintaro's location. He rushed towards the spot but was blocked by black insects.
Immediately, he weaved hand seals and produced electricity or lightning towards the insects frying some of them while the rest fled.
Once the blockade was gone, so was Shintaro, he turned to his team and he saw both of them holding their faces with their mouths wide open.
'They got us' he thought as he returned and was about to help them get out of the Genjutsu but they started screaming in pain while trying to open their clothes in front of their chest.
They screamed in agony and pain that their comrade was nerve-wracked on what to do. He tried riling up their chakra but was having a hard time due to them pushing him away.
When he thought that their cream of pain and agony reached climax, boy was he wrong, as soon as they lift their chest as if something was coming out of it, when they saw whatever came out?
Pure Horror! They screamed even harder but in pure horror! That was the only time their comrade was able to get them out of the Genjutsu.
Once they were out. They murmured the words 'moster' 'abomination' 'devil' 'demon' 'punishment' and even 'mommy'

Team Kakashi successfully completed the task and had no problem evading other teams while going to the finish line.
Once they arrived, they immediately surrendered 5 flags, the Kumo-team they encountered last were actually already on their way to finish line too.
"Congratulations on passing, please rest on one of the accommodations that is not occupied. Just follow the corridor to the left. There's only 3 hours left before the time limit, you will return here once it is over to hear the instructions for the last part of the exam" A receptionist announced to them.
Team Kakashi chose one of the rooms and took their rest. Their team was not accompanied by Kakashi, It was Genma and Hayato who came with them as their Jonin Sensei.
3 hours later
The participants or what remained of it were now face to face with the Kazekage.
"First of all, I congratulate all of you for passing the 2nd test. Since there are 6 teams who passed, we will proceed to the last part of the exam tomorrow. A team fight in round 1 and a one-on-one fight on the second round which means, one of you will fight twice on the 2nd round."
Which means the 18 of them will be cut down to 2 teams. And the remaining teams will have a one on one fight. Almost all of them were excited to fight and we're clamoring amongst themselves, all but one team which the kazekage also noticed.
Why not? It was the remaining team from Konoha after all. Nara's are known for having the lazy attitude, Aburame's are known for being the silent type, while Osamu is clearly not one of those, however, he was deep in thought while looking at a guy with warpaint on his face and wears black clothes with something on his back wrapped in clothing, and a girl on Suna attire, blond hair ties up in tow buns at the back of her head and was holding a metal, which is probably more than that if opened.
'why is Temari participating? Did this happen in Canon? I get that she is older than Gaara, then what about that guy, Kankuro. This times exam is not gonna be easy.'
'If the other teams from other villages are not up to par, we will probably take them on. That is on the scenario where we win our first round which I highly doubt we will lose considering our teams tactician.'
And so, Kazekage was curious. Why are they so calm? Shouldn't kids their age be more like the rest? Even his son, Kankuro, is elated at the prospect of fighting other nins from different villages.
'Truly a cradle of Geniuses, Konoha that is. Too often this statement was proven through during the last 3 Shinobi wars that the world has been through.''
'Even these Genins from a normal clan of Nara and Aburame have the right attitude of a Shinobi, maybe even matured for their age?' The Kazekage thought to himself. Not even giving a second glance to Osamu who according to his sources is only from a civilian heritage.
However, the irony of his statement only partially applies to Osamu but not the clan members of Nara and Aburame.
Will Osamu prove him wrong tomorrow? or will the Kazekage's thought be proven a fact?
