Chapter 112 - Chapter 109: Severus Proposal... Is Bloodshed Necessary?

Six Months Later...

The moon hung high above the Forbidden Forest,

Its silvery light casts elongated shadows on the moss-covered earth.

A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, but within one secluded patch of woods—

Complete silence reigned.

Or, at least, it was supposed to.

Beneath the shimmering folds of a lethifold, which curled and slithered like liquid shadow, Leo, Bellatrix, Eileen, Lily, and a magically enlarged bucket of popcorn waited with baited breath—

Utterly invisible to the world.

A normal wizard would never dare wear a creature as deadly as a lethifold, but of course… Leo wasn't normal.

And neither were his girls.

"This is better than the Black Lake drama last term."

Eileen whispered, her eyes gleaming.

"Shhh—he's coming!"

Lily squeaked, tightening her grip on Leo's arm so hard he winced.

"He's coming!"

Down the gentle slope emerged Severus Prince, seventh-year student of House Dragon, shoulders stiff with nerves.

In the glow of the moon, he looked both poetic and tragic—

Classic Severus.

Then, a few heartbeats later,

Petunia Evans stepped into the moonlight.

Now three years out of Hogwarts, the older Evans sister wore a soft blue cloak that fluttered like the wind obeyed her.

Her face was careful, cautious—

But curious.

"Oh my god, is that...?"

Bellatrix began.

"Yes,"

Lily whispered breathlessly.

"That's my sister. Is this the surprise you told me, Professor?"

Severus took a deep breath, raised his wand, and with a swirl of silver and green conjured a bouquet of moon lilies and belladonna—

Flowers laced with symbolism only a Potioneer could pull off.

The scent drifted, faint but oddly romantic.

"Petunia,"

He began, voice rich and tremulous,

"You may not believe in me, but every potion I brew, every element I distil—it always leads back to thoughts of you."

Leo raised a brow.

"____"

"That line was stolen straight from Advanced Potion Theory, Chapter Four."

He muttered.

"Still smoother than someone."

Eileen snorted.

Snort~

"He's trying,"

Lily whispered, eyes wide.

"He's really trying!"

Petunia hesitated… then took the flowers.

"____"

They talked.

Quiet words that the onlookers couldn't hear.

A gentle touch of hands.

Laughter.

Then—

A kiss.

Lily gasped and squealed into Leo's shoulder.

Gasp!

"____"

Bellatrix was grinning ear to ear.

Grin~

Eileen clapped softly.

Very happy for her son.

Who has found the courage to propose to Petunia.

She and others knew not only that the whole of Hogwarts knew about their relationship, but when it came to proposing,

Severus would always find a way to run away.

She was always worried her son would be single for his whole life.

Leo just stared, torn between amusement and the surreal absurdity of the moment.

Suddenly, Severus paused.

He tilted his head.

"____"

And walked toward the spot where they were hiding.

"Shit—"

Bellatrix hissed.

"Stay still!"

Leo whispered, not daring to move.

Severus squinted, hand outstretched, feeling at the air like he could sense something was off.

He stepped closer—

Everyone held their breath.

Then, without warning,

Severus turned back to Petunia.

Walked away.

Laughed again.

As if nothing had happened.

Once they were out of earshot, Leo let out a deep exhale.

Sigh~

"That was too close,"

Eileen muttered.

Being caught by her son red-handed while she was spying on him with his girlfriend.

Is very embarrassing.

"Almost got caught by Batman in love mode."

Bellatrix said with a grin.

Grin~

"He kissed her,"

Lily said, glowing.

"He really kissed her!"

Leo smirked, chewing another bite of popcorn.

Smirk~

Just as the warmth of the moonlight-soft moment began to fade,

A soft chime echoed in Leo's mind—

Clear, precise, and impossible to ignore.

[DING...]

Leo blinked once.

"____"

Then leaned back slightly beneath the lethifold cloak, letting out a long, deep sigh—

Not from fatigue, but a quiet kind of relief.

"Nine bloody years…"

He murmured internally.

He watched Severus and Petunia from afar—

Still holding hands in the clearing, talking beneath the moonlight like it was their own personal stage.

There was something… genuine there now.

Not guilt, not longing—

But hope.

"Guess you finally got what you needed, not what you wanted."

Leo didn't say a word about the notification.

Not to Bellatrix, not to Eileen—

Who would likely cry if she knew about her son's future if it wasn't for his intervention.

He just watched, content in the silence of his victory.

In his dimension pocket, the system interface shimmered briefly, the Thunderbird egg icon glowing faintly—

Powerful, rare, untamable by most.

And thirty tiny fairy sigils danced beside it, their soft magic radiating through the interface like laughter.

He closed it quietly.

No fanfare. No celebration.

Just a private smile.

'One less broken soul in this world,'

Leo thought.

'That's good enough.'

Then, as if on cue, Lily nudged him.

"Hey,"

She whispered.

"Why are you smiling like that?"

Leo popped the last piece of popcorn into his mouth and gave her a shrug.

"Nothing,"

He said with a smirk.

"Just… enjoying the show."

Leaving the love birds behind, all four moved towards the exit of the forbidden forest.

But paused.

"____"

"____"

"____"

As the soft rustling of leaves gave way to the sound of hooves against the earth,

Leo and the three women stepped out from beneath the cover of the Lethifold—

Its silky folds retracting like mist in the night.

The Forbidden Forest's silence broke with a gentle whirring hum and the unmistakable hover of motion from deep within the trees.

Then—

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Several figures emerged from between the tall oaks and tangled brambles—

Centaurs, proud and composed, their torsos gleaming under the pale moonlight, their equine halves standing tall and steady.

The leader of the group, a sleek black stallion with dark bronze armour pieces covering his shoulders and a deep scar trailing across his chest, lowered his bow respectfully.

"Lord Morningstar,"

He said, his voice deep and filled with ancient reverence.

"We sensed your presence in the woods. The stars whispered of your return."

Leo lifted an eyebrow, always a little amused at how the centaurs insisted on using the most dramatic phrasing possible.

Eileen blinked, clearly concerned for Severus.

Bella leaned in toward Leo, whispering with a mischievous grin.

"You're really milking this whole Lord of Everything title, aren't you?"

Leo smirked, brushing off a leaf from his shoulder as he turned to the centaur leader.

Smirk~

"And what does the great stargazing wisdom of the forest say tonight?"

The centaur bowed his head slightly.

"Our chieftain requests your presence. He wishes to speak of fate, of war, and of the shadow that grows in the north. You may bring your companions if you so choose—they are welcome."

At that, Lily's eyes widened with curiosity.

"Wait... you guys were aquatients?"

Leo shrugged.

"They've been watching Hogwarts since before you were born. They know a lot more than they let on."

Eileen crossed her arms, still frowning.

Frown~

"I'm only coming if this doesn't involve some ancient centaur mating ritual or prophecy nonsense. I've had enough destiny for one night."

Leo laughed softly.

Haha~

"Don't worry. No one's getting paired off with a centaur tonight."

With a wave of his hand, he gestured for the three women to follow.

"Let's not keep the tribe waiting. Who knows? Maybe they'll serve us starlight tea and riddles."

As they followed the centaurs deeper into the heart of the Forbidden Forest,

The thick canopy above shimmered under the full moon, and in the distance, the glowing torches of the Centaur Tribal Camp flickered to life—

Welcoming the Lord Morningstar and his unlikely companions.

The journey through the Forbidden Forest deepened, the trees growing taller, older, and stranger with each step.

The earthy scent of moss, magic, and time hung thick in the air.

Then, as they crossed a ridge blanketed with silver-leafed ferns, the forest opened into a vast clearing, hidden from the world—

The heart of the Centaur Tribe.

The Centaur Tribe...

Nestled in an ancient glade surrounded by sentinel-like trees, the tribe appeared like a realm frozen in myth.

Moonlight filtered through the high canopy, casting a soft glow over everything.

Towering stone monoliths, carved with astrological runes and swirling constellations, formed a wide circle around the camp—

Clearly marking this as a sacred place.

Within the circle stood a mix of wooden structures and natural elements seamlessly woven together.

Long communal pavilions built into trees, where centaur foals rested.

A central observatory platform crafted from twisted roots and silver bark, designed for stargazing.

Floating lanterns, enchanted, hovered in the air—

Casting calm glows over the mossy earth.

And in the very centre,

A raised stone dais surrounded by a reflecting pool, where the stars shimmered even on a cloudy night.

Leo paused.

"____"

For a moment—

Even he had to admit—

It was breathtaking.

It's not grand architecture, but the beauty of nature.

Bellatrix whistled low under her breath.

"Well. This wasn't in the Hogwarts brochure."

Lily looked wide-eyed, tugging slightly on Eileen's sleeve.

"I feel like I've stepped into a living tapestry..."

Eileen, however, muttered.

"Who would have expected this?"

As the group entered, a hush fell across the gathered centaurs.

From the far side of the dais, two centaurs stepped forward.

The first was massive, with silvery-white hair and storm-grey eyes that seemed to have watched centuries pass.

His upper half bore deep scars, his arms layered in golden tribal armour.

He wore a cape made of midnight-blue feathers.

When he spoke, his voice echoed like a quiet thunder through the clearing.

"Welcome… Morningstar. I am Theon, chieftain of this tribe, descendant of those who first mapped the heavens. This…"

He gestured to the younger centaur beside him.

"...is my son and heir—Magorian."

Magorian stepped forward, younger but already formidable.

His amber eyes were intense with a sharp intellect.

"We have watched you from afar, Leo Morningstar,"

He said respectfully,

"Your actions echo beyond the boundaries of your kind."

Leo stepped forward, offering a subtle bow, his voice calm but curious.

"Your tribe has always remained hidden. You've never opened your borders to humans. So I must ask... why now? Even though you guys were on good terms with Hogwarts."

Theon raised his head to the moon and spoke slowly.

"Because the stars shifted nine years ago. And for the first time in a thousand years… your name appears in their alignment."

'Tonight, I saw a huge war you would rise against half the population of wizards and countless Muggles. With blood, you wrote a new history that changed the world once and for all. But is the bloodshed necessary?"

The entire tribe bowed their heads in silence, the constellations above shimmering slightly, as if in agreement.

Leo, ever the strategist, narrowed his eyes slightly, intrigued.

"Interesting… I guess I'm listening."

Theon's gaze locked with Leo's, the glow of starlight flickering in his storm-grey eyes.

"There will be a great bloodbath."

He said, voice slow and thunderous,

"One that will drown both the magical and the mundane in sorrow. The skies we read have turned red with fire… and black with mourning."

Around him, the gathered centaurs shifted uneasily.

Some pawed at the moss-covered earth; others looked up to the heavens in silent apprehension.

Magorian clenched his jaw, but kept quiet.

"____"

Leo remained still, his cloak whispering against the grass as a faint breeze passed.

"And the centre of this bloodshed… is you, Morningstar."

The weight of the accusation—

Or was it prophecy?—

Hanging in the air like a guillotine.

But Leo's expression didn't change.

He didn't flinch.

He took a single step forward, looking Theon squarely in the eyes.

"If new saplings are to grow,"

He said in a low, steady tone,

"Then the old, twisted weeds—the pests—must be uprooted and burned."

His voice, though calm, struck like steel against stone.

The flames of the floating lanterns flickered, as if sensing the heat behind his words.

The clearing fell into silence.

"____"

"____"

"____"

Theon's eyes narrowed.

Not in anger—

But in understanding.

Even the other centaurs, usually disdainful of human speech, seemed stunned into silence.

Some exchanged glances.

A few looked toward the constellations overhead, as if seeking counsel from the stars themselves.

After a long moment,

Theon spoke again, his voice quieter—

But edged with caution.

"Then may the heavens grant you the strength to choose your pests wisely, Morningstar. For not all that is old is rotten. And not every weed is lifeless."

Leo didn't reply at first.

"____"

He simply nodded, then turned his gaze to the star-filled sky above.

Nod~

"And not every sapling gets the sunlight it needs… unless someone clears the canopy."

From beside him, Bellatrix whispered with an amused smirk,

Smirk~

"That's our Morningstar. Speaking in riddles with the horse-men now."

Eileen nudged her with a warning glance, but even she looked thoughtful.

Magorian finally stepped forward again, his tone more formal now.

"Then let the stars bear witness. You are not our enemy… but we will watch you."

Leo met his gaze.

"You're welcome to. Just don't blink."

A hush fell over the clearing like a veil of mist.

Then, without warning,

Theon—

The grizzled, revered leader of the centaur tribe—

Bowed down on one knee.

It was not the polite dip of the head that centaurs offered to visiting humans.

No.

This was the deep kneel of a knight, the ancient centaur salute once reserved for only the most sacred of kings and fallen heroes.

"____"

"____"

"____"

The rustling of leaves ceased.

Even the wind held its breath.

Magorian's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Father…?"

He murmured, almost not trusting the sight before him.

Theon's powerful voice rang clear, though his head remained bowed.

"Lord Morningstar, slayer of shadows, challenger of fate—"

"The stars say you walk the storm with open eyes."

"If you are to bring the fire that will purge the rot…"

"Then the Children of the Stars will ride beside you."

And with that, Theon lifted his spear and drove its tip into the earth—

A gesture of a binding pledge.

One never offered lightly by a centaur tribe.

All around the glade, the other centaurs stood stunned—

Then, slowly, one by one, they fell to their knees beside their leader.

Even Magorian, though clearly torn between instinct and legacy, lowered himself.

"I… may not yet see what you see,"

He said, locking eyes with Leo.

"But I will ride… and learn on the path."

Leo didn't speak for a long moment.

"____"

His eyes swept across the sea of bowed centaurs, their loyalty heavy and silent like a battle cry before the storm.

Then he finally whispered, voice low and calm.

"Rise, warriors of the stars. When the time comes, your hooves will thunder beside my fire."
