On the day of their arrival, Lord Shen reported to his post, while Juhua and her mother, along with the household servants, went to the new mansion assigned to Lord Shen by the court. They were busy inspecting the new mansion and settling in the boxes and servants.
The Great Jin has an explicit rule that for officials ranked fifth or higher, including the fifth rank, the main hall of their residence must not exceed the width of five rooms and a depth of nine beams. It could be made into an 'I-shaped' hall with a hip and gable roof, decorated with hanging fish and grass. For officials below the sixth rank, including the sixth rank, and commoners, their main hall could only have a width of three rooms and a depth of four to five beams, with only a hanging-roof allowed, and no decorations permitted.
