Chapter 49 - The monster Shahbo

The monster cat and Uncle Colin's wolves were in the castle, waiting for the monster Shahbo to appear.

Suddenly, voices began to rise from deep within the castle, shaking its walls as if it might collapse. The wolves trembled with fear, their bodies growing weak and thin, their eyes filling with tears.

They thought to themselves, "I wish I had never come here…" while glaring at the monster cat.

The wolves began to snarl and howl, longing to return. They lifted their paws and bared their claws, ready to attack her.

But the monster cat leapt into the air, flying up to the highest rock in the castle.

Monster Cat: "You think you can get rid of me, fools? I brought you here to enjoy killing and drinking blood. I will present you as a gift to the great monster!"

She howled with all her strength, summoning Shahbo.

From the shadowy wall, he emerged — his head shaped like a crocodile, with a massive tail and gigantic legs. On his broad shoulders sat strange birds, their beaks glowing with fire.

Monster Shahbo: "I have returned to my homeland after two hundred years of disappearance. What a long vacation it was! I grew bored… my body has grown huge, and I need to regain my fitness so that beautiful women will fall in love with me.

Birds! Tell me — how does my face look?"

Scorching Bird: "Rather ugly."

Monster Shahbo roared in anger, slapping the birds. They flew toward the monster cat, flames blazing above her.

Monster Shahbo: "No! I want to be even uglier… like those faces carved into the walls!"

The monster cat howled in pain as the burning flames scorched above her, and from below, Uncle Colin's wolves joined her howling.

The burning birds returned to Shahbo's shoulders.

Burning Birds: "There are people in the castle. We heard the sound of a cat… and wolves."

Monster Shahbo laughed: "A cat? Hah! Go on — eat it. That is your food… unless that cat carries keys. In that case… I would rather leave quickly. I don't want to face her."
