"So do you still have a crush on Alex ?" My co worker and bestfriend asks as he enters my office. My office was secluded from the large office space of the finance and manufacturing team which I'm also head of." I don't have a crush on our boss, Brian" I say and laugh." Oh. Sure, princess. You should tell him. Just confess your feelings to him and see what happens". He says comfortably placing an envelope, presumably with contracts for the boss to sign. " And then what, risk losing my job? No thank you. And besides I..." I get cut off by a call. " Katherine could you come in to my office." " Yes sir. I'll be right up" I reply quickly pick the envelope and head to the elevators.
Once I get to the fifteenth floor, I knock and the door automatically opens." Sir, these are the contracts you are supposed to sign. They'll be delivered by 4pm " I confidently speak and place it on the desk. He looked at the envelope then back up at my face no emotion at sight. He took out his black pen and signed them after quickly reading through the contracts. He spares one more glance at me before he finally decides to start speaking.
He's very deep husky voice tickles up my eyes and I get goosebumps. I am that delusional though ." Mrs. Katherine. Did you hear me?" I snap back into reality. 'Shit'. " Sorry sir. " I make an apology obviously looking stupid. Cussing myself out in my mind. " What time do you get off of work?" He inquired and I paused for a second . Why would he ask me about this. Does he want to ask me out?Of course not. I look back at him, his eyes nearly piercing my soul, That's how intense it was, or maybe I'm being delusional again." 8 pm sir, but I'll be here until 9 today." I responded and he's eyebrows furrowed ever so lightly it was almost unnoticeable. He then cleared his throat, and damn even that was hot. " I need you to come back after you're done with whatever you're going to be working on." He ordered and I just nodded my head. " Yes sir" I took the envelope with me and went back to my office and called the deliveryman so that he wouldn't delay being here before 4pm. Which was approximately 1 hour away. After that I got up and went to introduce the new intern we got in our department. " Hello. Andrea right. Welcome to Playberry inc. I'm Katherine Leclair, Design department head here and the CEO's personal assistant. nice to meet you." the feel of her hand is soft and tender and right from her appearance she seemed responsible and determined. Her long legs and lean-fit frame, made her look even more professional. Her flawless copper-colored skin shone in the nice afternoon sun. "let me show you around." I walk forward as I present her formally to almost all staff. she's warmly welcomed and I show her to her office which is next to Brian's and Aliyah's office. We go round the whole building for almost an hour until we are done. " Luckily you won't start today but, you can stay if you want and Brian could pass you through the work you'll start on exactly Monday morning. understood? She eagerly answers and I let her go off to her new furnished office.
Hours go by slower than usual and I get up to go and grab a meal. As soon as I get to the company's cafeteria, the cook greets me, her southern accent soft and motherly, the type that would lull a crying baby back to sleep. "Good evening Auntie" she looks at me with a warm smile as she gives me a plate already filled with a considerable amount of aromatic and visually pleasing food. " I know you haven't had a meal since you got to work." I try to protest but she shushes me before I even get to utter a single word. " You haven't passed by this path to get anything, not even a coffee. So eat up before you go unconscious on my floor darlin'." I just sit and pick a spoon from the closed compartment in the table. Just a few minutes later Alex walks into the cafeteria and I instinctively sit up. " Alex, you also didn't have any meal today." Mrs. Claire concludes giving him a similar plate of food. " And y'all better eat up up every bite on those plates, you hear?" " Yes auntie" Alex and I both acknowledged and I look at him baffled. 'Why would he call him Auntie? Claire told ME to call her that. why did he call her Auntie? I asked myself looking back at Claire hoping for an explanation as to how and why that happened. " Oh darlin' you didn't know. I'm his aunt. His mother's sister actually. I prefer if people don't know, so let's keep that between us. Yeah?" so they are related? I guess it's the more I learn everyday.
"So. you guys are related." I could swear I sounded disappointed or something but Alexander's renders me silent. His jade green eyes and thick, soft shiny hair, rosy soft skin, nice, soft pi-. I cut myself off from my thoughts and continue eating. " Do you have a problem with hearing?" The cold voice brings my head back. Shit! He just asked me a question and I didn't even hear it. " Sorry, my mind wasn't really here. You were asking?" I intently pay attention as he repeats his question. " Are you done with your work for today?" His question reminds me of what he had asked me in the afternoon. Is he giving me a raise or rather is he going to fire me today?
"Yes I'm done. just have to close up in the department, then I'll be done." His reaction doesn't give off more than what I thought it would. " Come to my office right after". The chair screeches on the gray tiles as he gets up and leaves. " Yes Sir." Claire looks down at me as Alexander leaves the hall while smiling and I can feel my cheeks and neck heat up.
