Chapter 141 - replacement

When Ruo Nan returned home, Mi Ling rushed toward her, screaming,

"My lady! There is a problem—the master, the master has collapsed!"

Ruo Nan's face instantly turned pale, her hands trembling uncontrollably as she stared at Mi Ling.

Her voice shook as she asked,"Mi Ling… what happened to my father? Where is he now?"

Mi Ling replied in panic, "My lady, the master… your father—he was drinking tea in the family garden and suddenly collapsed. The doctors are surrounding him now."

Fear surged into Ruo Nan's heart, and she rushed toward the garden without hesitation, ignoring everything else in her mind.

Ruo Nan reached his room, tears filling her eyes. Her father lay on the bed, wrapped in blankets, his face pale like wax.

Doctors surrounded him, whispering in low voices, clear worry etched on their faces.

Ruo Nan approached the bed,her voice trembling. "Father… can you hear me?"

Ruo Yuntan slowly opened his eyes and tried to smile, but he looked utterly exhausted. In a faint, broken voice he said,

"Ruo Nan…don't worry, my daughter… I'm fine."

She turned to one of the doctors and asked anxiously,

"What happened to my father?"

The doctor looked at her with sorrow and replied,

"We don't know what struck him.His temperature keeps dropping to unnatural levels, then rising again. We've never seen symptoms like this. I'm afraid… there may be no cure."

Ruo Nan stared at the doctors in shock.

It came true!Impossible… that also means Gan Li…

----

Above the hill overlooking the Ruo estate, Su Ming yelled,

"You poisoned her father!Zhang Yong, I know I haven't met many bad people, but you are definitely the worst! What if he actually dies?!"

Zhang Yong smiled lightly and mocked,

"Do you think I don't know that?Don't worry—the poison is weaker than the original. If he dies, it will only be in a few days."

Su Ming exploded in anger.

"Did you even think about what will happen if anyone discovers what you did?!"

Zhang Yong cut him off coldly,

"I already told you—no need to worry. They are two completely unrelated parties. We won't be their first suspect… nor their last."

---

Meanwhile, Ruo Nan sat beside her father's bed, holding his cold hand, fighting back her tears.

Suddenly, a calm voice echoed from behind everyone:

"Just because you don't recognize the symptoms doesn't mean there is no cure."

They all turned.

It was Yang Jin.

Yang Jin stepped forward with a serious expression, his brows furrowed as he examined Ruo Yuntan's pale face.

The doctors exchanged surprised and uneasy looks, but moved aside—they were familiar with the reputation of Physician Mo, Yang Jin's master, known as one of the finest. If anyone could save the patriarch, it would be him.

Ruo Nan lifted her teary eyes toward Yang Jin, a flicker of hope in her heart.

"Sir Yang Jin,please save him… anything, I'll do anything."

Yang Jin gave a small reassuring smile.

"There is no need for that. With our relationship, how could I let someone die in front of me?"

He raised his hand, revealing a pill resting in his palm.

"All it takes is this medicine crafted by my master. It can cure almost any condition."

Silence filled the room as everyone stared at the pill with desperate hope.

With trembling hands, Ruo Nan whispered to her father,

"Father…please take this. You'll get better."

Yang Jin placed the pill into Ruo Yuntan's mouth and helped him swallow it.

The doctors watched intently.

Minutes passed.

No change.

Ruo Nan didn't give up hope, but fear gnawed at her heart as her tears flowed faster.

Suddenly, Ruo Yuntan's face paled even more, and his breathing grew erratic.

Ruo Nan grabbed his hand in terror.

"Sir Yang Jin!What's happening? He's getting worse!"

Then Ruo Yuntan's entire body began to shake violently.

Blood erupted from his mouth, nose, eyes, and ears—every opening on his face.

"Father!" Ruo Nan screamed in agony, staring at Yang Jin in disbelief.

"You!It's your fault!"

The doctors rushed forward, trying to stop the explosive bleeding, but were powerless.

They were pale, helpless… all they could do was try to calm the collapsing Ruo Nan.

She turned to Yang Jin, who stood frozen, horrified.

"You killed him!"she screamed, her voice breaking.

Yang Jin stepped back, stammering,

"Ruo Nan…I didn't mean this… it was…"

But he couldn't even explain—his pill had never once failed before.

But The doors suddenly burst open.

Gan Li entered, alarmed.

"Patriarch Ruo…!"

Ruo Nan's dim eyes flickered with faint hope.

"Gan Li!"

Gan Li rushed to the bed, holding a small, glowing pill. "I have a way to save him.I found this in the ruins—it should help."

A doctor shouted, "Wait! You can't give him an unknown substance! It could make it worse!"

But Yang Jin cut in immediately, "No—let him do it." His heart pounded with secret excitement.

Because of Yang Jin's pill, Ruo Yuntan was already in critical condition. If Gan Li's pill killed him,all the blame would fall on Gan Li. If Yang Jin's pill didn't work, how could Gan Li's possibly work?

Gan Li placed the pill in Ruo Yuntan's mouth. Silence filled the room as everyone waited.

After a few seconds, Yang Jin's smirk deepened… but then—

Ruo Yuntan's complexion slowly regained color. His trembling stopped.

Then suddenly, Ruo Yuntan sat upright—his face dark with toxins.

"Father…!" Ruo Nan whispered with fragile hope.

Black mucous poured out of Ruo Yuntan's mouth—thick, corrupted poison expelled from his body.

The doctors stared in shock.

One whispered, "Impossible…he was poisoned the entire time!"

Another turned to Ruo Nan: "This pill expelled the poison from his body. He's cured—he only needs rest."

Ruo Nan let out a breath of overwhelming relief.

Yang Jin's face darkened completely and fled immediately.

Gan Li silently walked out after confirming Ruo Yuntan's safety.

Ruo Nan searched for him to thank him, but he was already gone.

She hurried after him, calling out, "Gan Li!"

He stopped, expression emotionless.

She bowed deeply. "Thank you.I know that medicine must have been precious… I will repay you for it."

Gan Li turned slightly. "No need.I was planning to visit your family to request the annulment of our engagement. But since your father's condition is unstable, I'll come another day. Consider the pill compensation for breaking the engagement."

These weren't his own words— they were instructions implanted by Zhang Yong in him to say

Ruo Nan froze in shock and pain. "A–annul the engagement? No… please…"

But Gan Li turned away. "I wish you happiness with Yang Jin,since you love him."

Ruo Nan staggered, pain ripping through her chest. "T–that's not true…"

Gan Li ignored her and continued walking

Her body trembled violently. With the last of her strength, she rushed forward and wrapped her arms around him from behind, clinging to him as though to life itself. "No…that's not true… not at all!"

Gan Li's eyes widened, stunned. Then Zhang Yong's voice echoed in his mind: "It's fine—you may soften now."

Gan Li exhaled softly, turned, and gently embraced her.

Su Ming watched through the special scope Zhang Yong had given him. "Damn…Zhang Yong, you better explain what you've done , I could swear she was hesitant before"

Zhang Yong chuckled calmly. "Everything is part of my plan.Tell me, Su Ming… in the human mind, there is the conscious and the subconscious. A person's personality is tied heavily to the memories stored in the subconscious—and it also creates our dreams. If the subconscious affects dreams, then dreams can also affect the subconscious"

He continued, "I gave her three nightmares over the past week."

Su Ming's eyes widened. "You said it would alter her temperament…don't tell me you…!"

Zhang Yong grinned viciously. "Exactly. The first dream showed Yang Jin with two girls—their faces identical to the real ones. The second dream showed her Father poisoned and dying in bed. The third dream showed Gan Li dying in the ruins."

Su Ming was stunned. "But…if it's only a nightmare, wouldn't she forget?"

Zhang Yong waved a hand. "Simple. The mind is good at recognizing patterns. To reinforce it, I forced her to relive the cycle repeatedly until it rooted deeply. So when anything similar happens, she immediately recalls the nightmare. The first dream planted doubt about the nightmares. Her father's collapse was the second blow. The third nightmare showed Gan Li's death—so she assumed he was dead. Thinking her father would die too,she fell into despair. Then suddenly—Gan Li appears alive, breaking the nightmare, while her mind was already collapsing from grief and exhaustion. So yes,it was the perfect checkmate"

Su Ming nodded slowly. "But what if Yang Jin's pill had worked?"

Zhang Yong shook his head. "Impossible. The poison he drank was my toxic blood. I gave Older brother Wang a sample to create the antidote. Only a pill made from my blood can cure it. No ordinary medicine can expel it. That's why when Gan Li saved him,all her emotions exploded"

---

Meanwhile Yang Jin ran away, cursing, "Damn that bastard ruined everything!Gan Li— I swear I'll—"

A blazing yellow palm struck him from the sky before he could finish.

He crashed to the ground, screaming.

"Who dares attack me?!"

A voice echoed, "Oh?My younger brother. Did you miss me? Even after killing our master—how heartless of you."

Yang Jin looked up in pain. "You…younger brother?" He repeated with confusion ,did his master had another disciple?

The voice spoke, cold and sharp: "As the master's disciple, you murdered him after learning everything he taught you? Is that your gratitude?"

Yang Jin trembled. "He tried to possess my body! It's not my fault he died! If you're really his disciple—you should know how evil he was!"

"Nonsense. But this might be interesting."

Suddenly, hundreds of figures materialized around him.

Yang Jin screamed, "What is this?!"

"Five minutes. All of them will attack you with fire. Survive, and I'll forgive you."

Yang Jin snarled, "Truly—like master, like disciple. All of you are demons!"

A cruel laugh echoed. "Then survive."

Fireballs shot at him from every direction.

Yang Jin drew his sword, slashing desperately.

But behind each fireball was an attack— every swing he made let another strike land.

He screamed as burning illusions tore into his flesh again and again. "Am I going to die here?!"

Suddenly, everything stopped.

Yang Jin collapsed to one knee, exhausted. "Hah…I survived…"

A young man appeared before him—loose black robes, long wild white hair, and golden eyes shining like jewels.

"Oh? You survived the five minutes."

Yang Jin stared in terror. "You!Impossible… you're that person from before!"

Zhang Yong waved casually. "Yoohoo~We meet again. But you're leaving soon anyway. A short introduction—no hard feelings, right?"

Yang Jin clenched his teeth. "Didn't you say if I survived you'd let me go?!"

Zhang Yong looked up thoughtfully. "I don't feel like keeping that promise. After all… promises exist to be broken. Let me test something on you.Half–Moon"

A white crescent flew from his hand, slicing across Yang Jin's face—between his eyes down to his left jaw.

The burn marks from earlier vanished—but ice-like crystals grew across the wound, sending agony through Yang Jin's skull.

Zhang Yong stroked his chin. "Hmm…Moonfire cancels Sunfire. Ice technique… or something similar. I can't control it well yet. I need more practice."

His eyes brightened. "Found it!Yang Jin—you'll be my training dummy."

Before Yang Jin could even scream, countless blades materialized and tore into him— cutting him apart piece by piece until his body collapsed lifelessly.

Yang Jin's Medical Knowledge

---

Zhang Yong's eyes gleamed with pride as knowledge flooded his mind. He clutched his head in excitement. "Damn…this medical knowledge is insane! He learned all this from that Mo guy? I hit the jackpot."

He looked at Yang Jin's corpse and smirked. "Another body for storage.I should rename the storage to a graveyard, hehe."

As he prepared to store the corpse, Ling Xi shouted, "Wait!Naoto, open his eyes. I need to confirm something!"

Zhang Yong raised an eyebrow but opened the corpse's eyelids.

Ling Xi's voice erupted, "I knew it!He has Heavenly Eyes!"

Zhang Yong blinked. "Explain,please."

Ling Xi cleared her throat. "Besides Heavenly Law Bodies, there are Heavenly Parts. They are extremely rare—each part has two stages: the World Stage and the All Stage. But to use them, you must possess a Sacred Body. Both cannot be born in one person. The chance of a Heavenly Part appearing is one in a million.Sometimes only one appears every thousand years. And now—there it is.Zhang Yong, claim it"

Zhang Yong looked at the corpse. "And how exactly do I do that?A technique? A ritual?"

Ling Xi snorted. "Pluck out your own eyes and replace them."

Everyone in the Spirit Sea erupted.

Bing Di screamed, "That's absolutely impossible!"

Murasama objected, "This is insane! You must be joking!"

Yami protested, "Ling Xi,that's way too extreme!"

Lina scratched her head awkwardly. "What? You can't get something without giving something up."

Zhang Yong sighed calmly "Ling Xi is right.I made my decision long ago. Even if I must tear off every limb—I will do what it takes for power."

Everyone fell silent.

Zhang Yong reached toward the corpse, grasped the eyes, and pulled them out.

Then he took a deep breath.

He gripped his own right eye, twisted— and ripped it out.

Crack! Blood sprayed as he let out a muffled groan.

"One down. My left eye was useless anyway—I'll finally be able to see with it again."

He tore out his second eye, blood dripping heavily.

Even those inside the Spirit Sea looked away. The Empress turned her face. Ling Xi remained expressionless. Murasama stayed silent. Yami watched in grim acceptance.

Where there once were jewel-like eyes, now there was only darkness.

Zhang Yong lifted the pair of Heavenly Eyes— and calmly placed them into his own empty sockets.

A sharp clarity washed over him— followed by unbearable agony, like his brain was turning into mush.

A crimson light burst from his new eyes— and he collapsed to the ground.
