Manbao handed her the pouch.
Changyu poured one out and put it in her mouth, squinting from the bitterness. She complained, "Can't you remove the bitterness and just leave the sweetness and that cool, refreshing taste?"
Manbao put one in her mouth and said, "You can, but I don't want to make them that way. All sweet, and then you'll want to go to sleep."

The two of them leaned against the carriage chatting. When they got tired of standing, they hopped onto the shafts and sat there, swinging their legs. The horse hitched to the carriage snorted, shifted its legs, and then stood there idly.
