Mason Carter's disappearance was not exposed publicly; only people within the circle knew about it.
Sophia Carter pushed the door open and saw Amelia Clarke and Owen Moreland getting ready to leave. She smiled and asked, "Mr. Moreland and Mrs. Moreland are heading back?"
She used to always address Amelia as 'Miss Clarke.' Calling Amelia and Owen separately wasn't strange. But when addressing the couple together—one as Mr. Moreland and the other as Miss Clarke—it felt odd, so Sophia promptly corrected herself.
Amelia smiled faintly, "You don't have to be so formal. Just call me Mia."
Sophia was taken aback.
Amelia's words were an expression of friendliness. Sophia could sense it, though she couldn't quite understand what had caused Amelia's sudden change in attitude toward her. Nevertheless, she went along with it and called her, "Mia."
On the way back.
