Sophia Wilson bent down to pick up the child crawling on the mat, the soft little body exuding a faint scent of milk and sweat.
"Even if Oscar made mistakes, he always treated you well. If you had really married Lucas Wilson back then, you might not have been happy, you might have been worse off than now. That young man was very ambitious, but sensitive and fragile. There's something I never told you..."
Sophia raised her eyes to look over.
Mrs. Wilson continued, "Back then, your dad felt for you and considered letting you be with Lucas. But he couldn't bear for you to suffer in such a poor family, so he secretly met Lucas. He made two requests of him: first, your dad would buy a villa for you as a wedding house, and after you married, you'd live in it. Your dad would arrange maids, a cook, a driver, and a gardener for you."
"Second, your dad wanted Lucas to join the company and asked him to rise to a leadership position within three years based on his own abilities."
