Oscar Moreland arrived at the ward to see a warm and harmonious scene.
Amelia Clarke lay in the hospital bed, with Owen Moreland tucking her in, while Sophia Wilson and the three elders surrounded the baby crib, where three newborns slept with their eyes closed. Two of them were blowing bubbles, and one had tiny lips pursed, sleeping particularly soundly.
He didn't knock, just pushed open the door, and stood frozen in the doorway.
Sophia Wilson's expression was no longer the usual cold and aloof one, but had softened and warmed.
In her eyes, a tenderness flowed that he had never seen before.
Amelia noticed Oscar first and politely called out, "Dad." As she spoke, she struggled to sit up.
Oscar snapped back to reality and said anxiously: "You've just given birth, lie down, there's no need for formalities, we're all family here."
Amelia readily complied, smiling: "Thank you, Dad."
