Amelia Clarke looked into Owen Moreland's serious and upright eyes and suddenly felt a sense of shame, as if her thoughts were not pure.
As newborns spend most of their time sleeping, soon Years By Years fell asleep with his eyes closed. Amelia thought about putting him back in the crib, but the little guy clung tightly to his pacifier and would not let go.
It just happened to be the time for the nurse's rounds. The nurse checked the temperature for each baby, then said to Amelia, "Mrs. Moreland, lie flat so I can check how well your body is recovering."
Amelia tried several times to take the pacifier out of her baby's mouth, but each time, the little one would eagerly latch back on, which was quite painful, so she dared not force it. "The baby won't let go of the pacifier," she said, feeling somewhat at a loss.
The nurse came over and touched the chin area of the little one, who immediately opened his mouth.
The checkup was completed.
