"Sorry, the number you dialed is not in service."
A female voice chimed in from the phone receiver.
Osbert Montgomery looked puzzled as he glanced at the phone, hung up, and dialed again.
9, 1, 1... dial!
A moment later, the result was the same.
The little fellow stared at the phone, somewhat baffled.
"Why can't I get through?!"
It's understandable; he grew up in the United States, where 911 is the emergency number, but now he's in Ebonmere, so of course it won't connect.
Looking at Kasper Edith lying beside him, Osbert Montgomery thought for a moment, then suddenly smiled and quickly dialed Olivia Parker's number one by one.
On the other end, Olivia Parker had just finished her rounds in the ward and had returned to the office room, ready to rest for a while, when she heard her phone vibrate.
She took out her phone, glanced at the screen displaying Kasper Edith's name, and pressed the answer button.
"Hello?"
On the other end, it was Osbert Montgomery's anxious voice.
