On the phone, there was a moment of silence, and after a while, Lucas Walker gently spoke.
"I love you all."
Ivana Bennett turned her face, gazing at the two children.
"We love you too."
She hung up the phone and smiled as she returned to the sofa.
The two little ones immediately jumped up, each grabbing one of her hands.
"Mommy, Dad..." Perry Walker stopped suddenly, raised a little hand to his lips and whispered "shh," lowering his voice, "We need to be quiet, Mommy. Daddy said he's coming back to eat cake."
"Really?"
"Yes, Dad truly said it, and he promised," Gepard Walker confirmed.
"That's wonderful." Ivana bent down, holding the faces of the little ones, "Now, let's take a bath and go to sleep. Tomorrow morning, we'll learn from Mary how to bake a cake, and then we'll make a three-layer birthday cake ourselves, okay?"
"Okay!"
The two little ones agreed simultaneously.
