Bailey Hansen spoke up to this point, then suddenly stopped. "Wait, Vera, you and Kris Cooper are already legally married, so why do you still call me 'Aunt'?"
Vera blushed slightly. "I... I'm just used to calling you that."
"They aren't officially married yet, so calling us Uncle and Aunt is fine for now." Christopher Cooper's tone was gentle. "Your aunt is like a water pipe—she's a straight shooter, always speaking her mind. If she ever says or does something wrong, don't take it to heart."
Bailey Hansen instantly glared back. "What are you saying? If I'm like a water pipe, then what are you?"
Christopher Cooper shrugged. "Well, I'm obviously a plumber—I fix the pipes!"
Vera burst out laughing.
"You're so funny. Actually, I like Auntie's... I mean, my mom's personality."
With just one sentence, she easily made the switch. Though a little embarrassed, it didn't feel awkward at all.
