"Mr. Cooper, let's talk this out. Please, let go! Irene... she can't take it anymore!"
"HUMPH!"
Kris Cooper snorted and loosened his fingers from Irene Spencer's neck. Irene immediately began to cough violently.
Anabel Wilton quickly helped her aside and patted her back.
"Irene Spencer," Kris Cooper said, turning to her in the corridor. "Stay away from Vera, and stop using such despicable tactics. This is my final warning. You'd better heed it!"
With that, he turned and stormed out the door.
BANG!
The door slammed shut, the heavy thud making their hearts pound.
Irene shivered again in fright. Anabel glanced in the direction he had left, then turned her gaze back to Irene.
"Irene, what on earth happened?"
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Irene sat on the couch and rubbed her aching neck, not saying a word.
"Could it be..." Anabel moved closer and whispered, "He found out about that news incident?"
