Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Set Up

Romantic... hotel?!

Are you kidding?

When she first saw the word "clubhouse," Vera Wave thought it was a leisure club, never expecting this kind of result.

Looking at the promotional materials full of blush-inducing images, Vera's face reddened. How was she supposed to market this?

She turned back to explain her intentions, but the receptionist girl was playing a game and replied without looking up.

"Come back tomorrow. The manager definitely won't be back today."

Helpless, Vera could only leave with the materials in her arms.

...

...

Ashton Real Estate.

Conference Room.

Kris Cooper smiled as he stood up from his chair, "Alright, that's it for today's meeting. If there's anything I didn't do well, please feel free to guide me."

"You're too humble."

"Yes, everyone knows you gained extensive management experience in the U.S."

...

At the table, the board members spoke politely.

In terms of age, he could be considered their son's, or even grandson's, peer, but not many dared to underestimate this young man.

As the only heir of the new generation of the Cooper Family, Kris Cooper inherited not just the appearance of his elders but also surpassed them in capability.

He started capital operations while still in university in America, and in just a few years, he had operated an obscure small company into a top-tier company.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have been entrusted with heavy responsibilities at such a young age by his father, Christopher Cooper, taking over the most important real estate business for the Coopers.

As the board members left one by one, Tommy Taylor walked over and placed a document in front of Kris Cooper.

"Young Master, these are all of Miss Vera's documents."

Kris Cooper, who was originally lazily leaning on the back of his chair, immediately reached out and took the documents.

Scanning the text with his eyes, he gently raised an eyebrow.

"Walter Wave's real estate... What happened with the bankruptcy?"

"They bought a piece of land offshore near Malaysia, invested over a billion, and were just about to start pre-sales when a government document came down saying that the land is an ecological protection area and development is not allowed." Taylor shrugged, his tone full of regret, "Over a billion dollars, all wasted."

The Cooper Family originally started in real estate, so Kris Cooper naturally understood these matters.

Upon hearing this, he knew it wasn't simple.

If this were a government action, there would have been some prior news. The only possibility was that Walter Wave's real estate was being played by someone.

"Who did it?"

"I don't know." Taylor sighed, "But the Wave Clan was miserable. Years of foundation gone overnight, and they still owe the bank two hundred million. Vera's father, Walter Wave, couldn't handle the pressure and jumped to his death, leaving behind his mother and daughter, Miss Vera."

"When did this happen?"

"About a year ago, I guess!"

"Then... what about Walter Wave's real estate?"

"All the assets under Walter Wave's real estate were auctioned by the bank. The Wave Building is now under our name."

Kris Cooper's eyebrows twitched, "We acquired it?"

Taylor nodded, "The chairman turned it into the gaming company's headquarters. The renovations were just completed recently and it is now in official use. It's part of where you're headed, the Skywalk Building."

His gaze returned to the documents in his hand, where Kris Cooper's eyes lingered on the file.

"Stopped school for a year?"
