Tara Jameson took a deep breath. She had known it for a long time; only when he received a call from Nia Mitchell would that particular smile appear on his face.
"You like her." It wasn't a question, but a statement, her tone exactly the same as Fiona Sutton's back then, startling Charles Northwood.
In a daze, it was as if he saw Fiona Sutton standing there, just as composed. She had said, "You like Nia Mitchell, don't you?"
At the time, he had insisted it was just her imagination.
"She and I are just friends," Charles Northwood said, a smile still on his face.
Her expression unchanging, Tara Jameson turned her head to look at Charles Northwood. She found him a little hard to understand. "Sometimes, I think you like her, but other times, you're too detached." She couldn't understand it, couldn't quite place what this feeling was.
